I have a Casita in the Palm Springs area and I’ve been looking for a mid-century modern inspired coffee table. I have seen several that are not as nice as this at two and three times the price. It’s solid maple. it may look and simple, however, believe me it’s sturdy. The top is solid maple. This is just the right size table to compliment my small sectional sofa in my tiny living room. It's sturdy and very solid, and I can easily sit with my legs crossed and tucked underneath it. It could also be used as an end table if you have a bigger space and a larger living room sofa. I'm completely happy with this purchase. The top is definitely solid but came with blemishes that did not seem consistent with natural wood; I couldn't tell it was holes that had been drilled on the wrong side or what. It was actually pretty hard to assemble because of the placement of the screws on the parts of the legs. I'm pretty decent at building furniture too having bought many pieces of furniture for my apartment and previous apartment requiring assembly. I tried different screw drivers of different lengths and I still found it challenging--my hands got tired and I broke a sweat trying to use my weight to get the screws into the wood! The material seems solid but I don't think it was worth the money for how simple the assembly could have been and the blemishes that came on the wood. Read more
