I used it today, I have long hair Shiba Inu and he got matted behind his ears it, I brush his hair gently back and forth for few minutes and it removed the matted hair, Just be careful though the teeth is sharp. Read more

If you have never used a dematting comb, they are great! You need to determine the right size for your pet. Some have smaller "teeth" than others. If in doubt, go with a wider spaced set. The smaller and more close together the "teeth", the more they will catch in the mats rather than break them up. I had one for several years and I felt like maybe the blades were getting dull. Since I don't know of any way to sharpen them, I ordered a new one. It's working pretty well. It is sturdy and the blades are well set into the handle, so they will not loosen up or come out. The blades curve, so that ideally, you will not hurt your pet's skin. I say ideally, because if you are too rough and pull hard, it's still going to hurt. It won't be the blades, but it will be like pulling their hair. It's best to try to keep your thumb at the base of the mat so that you can work on the mat without pulling the skin. I only gave it four stars because I had hoped with brand new blades it would cut through mats like butter. It works about the same as the one I already had, so I probably didn't need to buy a new one. Still, I would recommend it if you have a pet with mats in their fur (dog or cat). Read more

This little tool is AWESOME! My 17 year old cat stopped grooming himself. He has medium length fur with a dense undercoat and became seriously matted. It's hard to find groomers for cats, especially older cats in this condition. I'd always bathed my cats myself a couple times a year, and it's usually no big deal, however, I knew these mat clusters would be hard and likely painful for my boy. I wanted to make it as "painless" as possible. It was a huge success with this tool! It's absolutely the perfect size for cats and getting into small areas of their body. Might Bichon frize gets these little mats under hair. I can use a Slicker brush and it gets it nice and smooth on the outside but those little snarls really bother me. I have tried using a hard wire comb and even though I was gentle I ended up making a little red mark in her skin. I have also cut out the knots which makes her coat look funny. This is a godsend. It doesn't hurt her at all and it kind of slices just the right pieces of the small so that the whole snarl doesn't just get chopped out and they come out pretty easily.
