Incredibly impressed with all the Safari Ltd figurines. I bought 4 Toob sets and 3 "Safariology" about animal life cycle. Though the figurines are small, the amount of detail is amazing. E.g. The scales on the crocodile or the strands of feather are all clearly defined. They're also carefully painted and look quite real. I also buy a lot of Schleich animal models and I think the Safari ones are 90% comparable. I will attach photos for your reference. The figurines are made in plastic, some are harder and less flexible than others, but they are all sturdy and well protected in the Toob case (they have extra protection for delicate parts). What I'm even more happy about is that under each tiny model there is the name of the object, whether it's an instrument, an animal, a world famous landmark etc. They also include a fun little fact on the label of the Toob. This really shows that the company is really committed in making high quality educational toys. As an educator I'm really happy and touched to see this. One thing Safari can improve on is the top opening of the Toob case. It's quite hard to pull out some of the items and I ended up taking them out from the bottom instead. I plan to teach my child to put the figurines back into the Toob when cleaning up but this may be more difficult than I thought. I like the slim and compact design but perhaps the case can be a little wider, or the yellow rope handle near the top can be modified? (The knot makes the opening even narrower) Read more

We use this for matching work with "Discovery Series Musical Instruments" and "Musical Instruments Stickers" books, presented on a wood tray. There are gaps and overlap of instruments among these 3 materials, but my toddler enjoys it. One reviewer mentioned it would be nice for the violin to have a bow, which I agree with except that in order for it to be in proportion the bow would be so small and thin that it would be impossible to keep up with and would break easily. Its just not practical. These are small yet durable figurines with adequate detail. We also have sea animals toob and birds toob and expect to collect others. These are great for language development and sparking conversation for the exploding toddler vocabulary. My 22 month old recognized and named all of the toob instruments (violin, guitar, French horn, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, clarinet, flute), on her first visit to the music store. And our toddler visitors gravitate to this toy. You can sometimes find Toobs for $8 or $9, but most brick and mortar retailer's selection is hit or miss. So if you want a specific collection, I recommend Amazon. Read more

These were exactly as described. But keep in mind, the instruments are NOT all relative in size - meaning the flute is not smaller than the trombone - in fact, it's a little bigger. They are all about the same size, so you've got a huge flute and clarinet next to a violin, french horn and trumpet of the same size. As long as you know this, and are ok with it, then great. It's the one thing I could not find out about before ordering. I wanted to super glue the instruments into a bunch of Batman action figures for my music teacher wife - you know, Batman playing the violin, Batman playing the trombone, etc. So the violin, trombone, saxophone and french horn all worked perfectly (see photos) and they were the exact size to fit into 6" action figures hands. The flute, clarinet and trumpet all looked super huge next to the Batman action figures. But that's ok, because I got the ones I wanted. Read more

This was on my daughter's wish list for xmas (she's 9). She loves playing with her stuffed animals and she wanted to make a band for them. It serves its purpose, she likes it but the plastic is a bit too soft. Some instruments are bent and can't be straightened eg flute and clarinet look like arches, and trombone is all bent as well. Price is ok: $9-10. I've seen this at Hobby Lobby and it was same price as on amazon with free shipping. Read more
