The Salty Captain Sea Spray has become an essential part of my fishing gear maintenance routine. As an avid angler, I spend a lot of time in saltwater environments, and this spray does a fantastic job of removing salt residue from my rods, reels, and tackle. The 500ml bottle provides great value, and I appreciate how easy it is to use. Applying the spray is quick and straightforward—simply spray on, wipe off, and my equipment looks almost new. It effectively prevents rust and corrosion, which has extended the lifespan of my gear significantly. ⭐️ARRIVAL & PACKAGING⭐️ The bottle of cleaner arrived incredibly fast. The bottle I received was packed in a paper (unpadded) Amazon bag. The nozzle had come off the pump stem, but it was in the bag. It's a shame because this spray is pretty amazing, but the packers at Amazon really aren't doing the company any favors by haphazardly packing this stuff up. Thankfully, the bottle is made of a nice, sturdy material and it has a seal over the cover (under the cap), so there were no leaks upon arrival. The spray top was easy to pop back on the stem and it works great. It took me 30 extra seconds to get everything right again. I also prefer the spray nozzle to come separate (like it did here) and have an actual seal over the top of the bottle- so I know the product hasn't been adulterated/swapped and so it doesn't leak! I'm definitely not going to sit here and fault this product or the company because of how this arrived- because it's shipped by Amazon, so it's all on them. Plus, this spray is GOLD! ⭐️HOW DOES THE FORMULA WORK⭐️ I am BEYOND impressed with this formula! Now let me just tell you- I originally picked this up as a gift for the hubby so he could use it as advertised. He was so impressed with how well this cleaned off his gear (his rods, reel, ect). It only takes a few sprays- you don't need a lot and since the bottle is big, it lasts a long time! You don't need to scrub this on either. Just spray on the fresh and natural citrus smelling spray (I'm extremely sensitive to smells, as they trigger my migraines, but I LOVE the smell of this stuff!), let it sit for a few minutes and rinse with fresh water then dry everything off (we use a microfiber towel/rag). This cleans off the salty funk that gets built up (and leads to rust and damage) and your gear no longer will smell like the rotten depths of the bottom of the ocean! We both agree that using this spray is by far the easiest,quickest and best way (that requires minimal effort) for your fishing gear. I'm a neat freak and I'm always cleaning something. I was so impressed with how well this cleaned the rods and gear that I went ahead and used it on parts of the boat that are usually a pain to clean and never really look/feel like I want them too (railings, exposed surfaces, etc). I figured if this was good enough to use on a $2.5k rod and reel, it would be fine for cleaning the boat too…and I was RIGHT! This literally became my bestie when it comes to that boat because it literally dissolves that salty, crusty residue and leaves everything clean and shiny. Unfortunately, we did have to leave the fun of our warm weather digs and come back home to Upstate NY. I left bottle #1 there (on the boat) but ordered a 2nd bottle to be delivered here. We aren't fishing here and there definitely isn't any salt water, but I had an idea- Since our house is in one of the snowiest cities in the US, where a combination of salt and sand is used on the roads so we don't slip and slide all over, I decided to try this on the car. Now I want to note that I was already a mega fan of this Aussie brand and have been using their car products for over a year. So YES, I know they sell (an amazing) car wash made for salt, already. I didn't want to wash my whole car with this though (especially because it's way too cold for that!), but I did want to clean my door handles, trunk latch (all the things my hand touches basically, because I can't stand the feeling of the salt!) AND I wanted to use this to keep my backup cam clean. Just like this delivered on the gear and the boat, this spray is a total HOLY GRAIL for spot cleaning salty, Upstate NY cars! It's perfect for when it's way too cold to fully wash! ⭐️VALUE & FINAL THOUGHTS⭐️ My husband (and all his fishing buddies) all love this stuff! I'm also completely obsessed with it, as it helps me keep the surfaces that are typically a royal pain (on the boat in PR and on the car in Upstate NY), nice and clean. I sprayed this on my reel and it felt like I was giving my tackle a spa day instead of letting it slowly turn into a salty science experiment. So far so good. This cleaner is easy to use, the spray coverage is solid, and it makes post trip cleanup feel way less annoying. If you fish around saltwater, you already know the routine: you either rinse your gear or you eventually start hearing the faint sound of your reel crying. This makes the whole process faster and more convenient. I’m also the type who likes products that keep things simple. Spray, wipe, rinse as needed, done. No complicated steps, no weird residue that makes your hands feel like you touched a candle. Important note though: I can’t speak to the long term “prevents rust and corrosion” claims yet because that takes time, but the product is doing what I want right now, which is helping me clean salt and grime off without a fuss.
