Samsonite Foldaway Packable Tote Sling Bag

This is the perfect bag when you happen to buy while traveling. Because it folds compactly in your carryon luggage, it’s easy to throw in as you pack without taking up space. But, unfolding it reveals a great shopping tote with great capacity for storage. It zips closed for safety and security with pockets inside. On my way home from Scotland/Liverpool, London, I was able to fit tea, paintings, tea cakes,wraps and scarves into the bag, check my carry on, and use this with my backpack home. The fabric is sturdier than expected and not too lightweight. Construction seems durable with binding on all seams and washable. The pocket to make it pack-able is attached to the interior and can be used as a storage pocket. I wish this bag had a strap that I could put on my luggage handle. Instead sometimes it is sliding left/right from the handle. I wish the bag could properly fold small. Nonetheless It has come in very handy on my trips abroad. I use it as a carry one and it holds practically everything I throw in there! The material is very strong and appears to be washable. I was eyeing a handsome $70 bag recommended on NY Magazine. But knew I would overpack as well as overpay. This Samsonite for its perfect weight, size and value, so I DIY'd it. First, I wanted more structure for carrying my books. I cut rectangular scraps in thick polyester felt from a defunct Ikea organizer, stitching them to sides and bottom on a Singer home sewing machine. Second, i wanted a shoulder strap, repurposing one from a worn-out Travelon bag. I ran lengths of nylon webbing along the outside, with the felt insides lending extra strength. Love that the bag fits right under the seat ahead. It helped me take a 10-day trip to a very cold climate with just this "personal item" bag and a large backpack carryon, wearing my snow coat. When things dont fit on your carryon its nice to have a plan B. This will fold flat, weigh nothing and fit outside pocket of carry on. It will fit under the seat when flying or for pack for a weekend get away. The color is a true navy. Its sewn well. I did not find any loose threads. It's a great value compared to other name brands.
