UPDATED: Does Amazon have a shelf full of SMASHED TVs?

I just received this television today. After taking it from the box I was pretty happy. Its thinner than the 50" Smart Samsung I am replacing and since I've upgraded to 4K I was excited. Box looked undamaged and so was the screen so I attached it to the stand and plugged it in to find the entire screen smashed. IT was impossible to see when the television was off but it was terrible. The screen was smashed so bad that the television wouldn't even stay on. It just blinked on and off. I did read before ordering that some people did receive tvs like this, but I know Amazon is good about replacing products that arrive damaged so I ordered anyway and also bought the warranty. I hope my replacement is better. UPDATE!!! So I received my replacement and it was is perfect condition. While waiting I read more reviews because I was skeptical about getting another tv delivered. I wasn’t sure if it was because of Amazon or the courier, but I decided if the second tv was damaged I would just ask for a refund. Thank god I didn’t have to go through any of that. Anyway, this tv is great. I’m not sure of what the problem is with other reviewers and the sound. It gets pretty loud. I have Samsung soundtowers for if I want more of a theatre sound, but it sounds like a normal tv. Also, there were complaints of only being able to see the screen of your directly in front of the television. I don’t have that problem either. I’m not a big fan of the stand but I have to wait a few days to get my old tv down and have this one mounted. I can’t do it myself. The picture is great. I have the 55” and the quality is awesome. I watched the Super Bowl last night and didn’t have the speed issue either. I would recommend this television. The apps are great. Especially the one for fb videos. I waste so much time on my phone with those. Great price great picture decent sound. Read more

She still works

I’ve had this 55” TV for over seven years and to be honest it’s still works great. Looks like the day I bought it and hasn’t given me any serious issues. Somehow the smart aspect of the TV hasn’t degraded and slowed down. Works just fine wired or wireless. I primarily use it for YouTube, but there’s also this free networking package that comes with the TV. That’s kind of fun to leave on the background. I think mine has been sent to some Hallmark adjacent channel for the last seven years. I keep losing the remote and finding it like a couple months later, but you can buy generic remotes off of Amazon that work compatibly. For the screen real estate, the thickness and stand are a great size. I’ve moved four times and never had an issue with packing and it’s never been damaged despite not treating it like a piece of glass. Only complaint I’ve had has been trying to hook it up to a sound bar. I just can’t figure out how to get a Samsung sound bar to work natively with this but what can you do? I don’t know if anyone would wanna buy this in 2025 but if you’re looking for it, I can speak to the longevity of this thing. It’s a workhorse with just enough smart features to stay connected in a modern world, but not bogged down with advertisements and slow speeds. Oh yeah, and picture quality is good too, but I haven’t bought a TV in long enough. I couldn’t compare it to current ones. No complaints here. Read more

Excellent TV with high-end Remote, Bluetooth, 5ghz Wifi

First off, I had to have a 40 inch TV to fit into my cabinet - so that did reduce my options. This TV and its newer version were the highest rated TVs on TV Ratings website for 40 inches. After extensive review, I decided that this model 6300 (2017 version) was a much better option over the 7100 (2018 version). It appears that Samsung downgraded the 2018 version to save costs - but the two TV’s pricing are nearly identical. The two TVs have almost identical picture quality and build. But the MU6300 comes with the One Remote, Bluetooth, and better connectivity. Samsung One Remote ------------------------- This remote can still be found with Samsung's high end TV's. The One Remote uses radio/bluetooth to control the TV - so no need to point or even be in the same room. The one remote also controls all other devices - google Wall Street Journal review (video) of the remote - it was positive. I read the poor reviews of the remote - but was pleasantly surprised at how well and easy the remote worked. It also has voice control - which controls nearly every function (volume, apps, channel, source selection) and it's very responsive - sub second response. For me, I can't see how the standard brick remote with rows of buttons is better than this - but everyone has their preferences. Bluetooth -------------------- This was a must have. The TV pairs easily with bluetooth speakers - which allow me to watch programs in our kitchen even when the fans, mixers, etc are running and the pots are bubbling. Also, if this is in one's bedroom, one person can watch a program using bluetooth headset so their partner can sleep (or read). The volume and sound quality of the built in speakers is also quite good. Wireless 5 Ghz --------------------------- This model also supports 5 Ghz and 2.4 Ghz, while the new model 7100 handles just 2.4 ghz. If you're streaming 4K, it can matter. Overall the picture is quite good - not as good as our $2.5K Samsung in the Living Room - but this model did get a "very good" rating overall. There is some dimming at angles (but not substantial) and the contrast can be off balanced - but overall it's a good picture. I give the TV a 4.5 star rating overall. Hope this helps. Read more
