So, everything in my kitchen seems to either be rechargeable or run off a USB. Hubby installed USB wall outlets for me, but with six under-the-cabinet rechargeable lights, plus all the small appliances, I still don't have enough USB outlets. So, I got this to charge all of these things. But, I made a big mistake when picking this out. Sadly, I didn't read close enough. This is not a charging base. It doesn't draw enough power for that. It is meant to draw as little power as possible to not drain your computer battery. Now, I will say that I only have 2 USB ports on my laptop, so have to be selective about what I use. So, I am sure I will get use out of this multiport. But the multi-charger quest for my many kitchen needs remains fully on. Read more

My data transfer rate with a flash drive attached directly on my computer's port was measured to be around 90 MB/s; With the hub attached to the computer, and the same flash drive attached to the hub, the speed was measured to be about the same speed. USB standards are a little complicated, so the seller's claim of a transfer rate of USB 3.0 up to "5Gb/s" might be technically accurate, however those are not realistic sustained speeds. USB 3.2 could expect to reach those speeds, but this hub was not advertised as USB 3.2. However, with the drive I tested, this hub was able to reach the top speed of either my drive or my computer's port. It's possible that this USB hub could reach faster speeds. 90MB/s (or, in terms of megabits, 800Mb/s) is a very respectable speed. In addition, it seems that this device has a feature which is not advertised! It features a USBC port which can be used to supply power to the board. I removed the plastic housing, looked at the circuit board, and observed that there were only two traces moving away from the port, which indicates that this port is completely incapable of transferring data. I performed some very rudimentary testing with supplying power through this port and it appears to function like you would expect from a powered USB port. No USBC cable is included; The back of the box indicates that the power port accepts 5 volts up to a maximum of 3 amps. (If you don't know what this means, don't worry. A standard USB wall adapter and cable is within these standards.). This hub is not designed to quick-charge anything like a phone; it merely supplies the standard power required by many USB devices. At the time of writing, the price of $9.99 is outstanding. Given its ability to receive power, it is half the price that I would expect to buy it for. Read more
