Sandcloud is the best, but $$$! I tried others!
TLDR: sandcloud is my original fav sand free travel towel (seriously life changing!!) but I am keeping the cheaper options! I was looking to replace my original SandCloud towel that I owned for about five years before accidentally leaving it on a beach in Cambodia. (Rip😢) Since I backpack Asia for months at a time, I wanted something extremely lightweight, sand resistant, and quick drying for beach travel. I ended up testing three “sand free” Turkish towels at different price points. SandCloud retails around $50. Feshka is usually listed at $49 but many colors go on sale for around $25. Genovega is the most affordable at around $10. All three towels feel high quality and all of them did a great job repelling sand. I was honestly impressed across the board. Texture and thickness Feshka and SandCloud feel almost identical to me. Both are thin, lightweight, and clearly designed for quick drying and easy packing. If you are familiar with Turkish towels, this is exactly that feel. Genovega is noticeably thicker and more plush when you feel a single panel. It has a more traditional towel feel while still being sand resistant. Dry time and packability Feshka and SandCloud dry the fastest and pack down the smallest. If space and weight are your top priorities, these are the best options. Genovega still dries well, but because it is thicker, it takes a bit longer. I was impressed to see that it rolled up to about the same size as the others. As you can see in the attached photo the other two photographed in their original type packaging and the Genovega after use. Real world use- I actually purchased the Genovega first and used it on a beach trip to Hawaii. It performed great, repelled sand well, and felt very comfortable to lounge on. Final recommendations! If you are trying to SAVE SPACE in your bag and want the quickest DRY TIME, go with Feshka, especially if you can grab a color on sale. If you want a more PLUSH towel feel and are not as concerned about space, Genovega is an excellent option and an amazing value for the price. I have seen people complain that SandCloud towels feel too thin, but that is simply the nature of quick dry Turkish towels. If that thin feel bothers you, Genovega is a great alternative. Overall, all three towels work well. The best choice really depends on whether you prioritize packability or comfort. Read more
