This is a review for the Claxton Ultimate Gel Pomade, High Shine & Medium Hold formula... This surprised me a little when i opened it as it was quite dark and had an industrial grease appearance to it. However when you apply it it becomes apparent that its not technically greasy, although it does have a sheen to it, likely from the pumpkin seed oil. There is a little oil base feel though and so it may feel a little slippery like an oil but its actually water based, and it holds well and provides that shiny wet-look style on wet hair if that's the look you are going for. Applies very smoothly without clumping or causing drips. No complaints on usability. It is fortified with 'X-TECH COMPLEX', of which i was not familiar with, but it contains Ashwagandha, Pumpkin Seed Oil, and Rosemary. If its good for my hair and scalp then all the better. Formaldehyde Donor Free, Mineral Oil Free, Paraben Free, and Sulfate Free which is a good thing. My only complaint was that it seemed to soften up after a few hours and felt like I may need to reapply a small bit more. That's pretty common with poms but I felt it could last a bit longer, especially when you're not being overly active. Perhaps that would have made it less touchable and smooth without being too crunchy though. If you're out on the town all day you'll probably need to carry it with you. Overall the quality feels quite good. Holds as needed and rinses out easily at the end of the day. Take a little getting used to the dark black appearance in the container but it doesn't transfer to the hair as far as color. It definitely has a nice clean scent without being overpowering to clash with an aftershave or perfume. Read more

I bought this matte clay hair gel for my toddler, who has very fine blonde hair. A little goes a long way. I literally just touch the gel with one finger and rub it between my hands before putting it in his hair. His hair still feels soft, but it holds whatever shape I mess with, which is exactly what I wanted. You can see a slight greasy sheen, but since he has toddler hair, that’s not too surprising. I think if I used it on wet hair instead of dry, it would probably blend in and set even better. The scent is nice, it’s a more “manly” smell, and I can actually smell it even though there’s very little in his hair. Overall, this was exactly what I was hoping for: just something with light hold so I can add a little volume instead of his hair laying super flat on his head. Read more
I am sorry to say that the Claxton Sea Salt Spray for Hair didn't work well for me and I had to throw it away due to the overpowering scent that induced a migraine for me. The fragrance is reminiscent of a very strong men's aftershave smell. I tested it first by spraying a bit on my hands and on a white cotton swatch. The texture of the spray on my hands left little residue but I quickly washed my hands after how strong the smell was. I sprayed some on a white cotton cloth and left it for 2 days to see how the fragrance would subside. It was still very strong after 2 days. Another thing that really bothered me was the huge list of ingredients - way too many for me to want to use on my hair and scalp. Because I got a headache within 20 minutes after just a few sprays that lingered, I chose not to test it on my hair due to the reasons listed above. I will not be purchasing this product again, especially for the price, and can't recommend it to others. I will stick to my other hair products that have fewer ingredients, less smell, and basically do the same thing as this product. Read more
This stuff smells amazingly good, like something you would get from a high end boutique but very masculine. It is marketed as a matte clay, and while it is similar to other products I have tried in the past, it is quite different. Usually the clays I use are very hard and difficult to spread out at first, a little like wax, but this is like an in between a cream and a heavy pomade. It was very easy to spread through the hair, and a little does go a long way to provide some great volume and texture. One issue I noticed right off is that using the same amount of product I normally do gave quite a bit of shine and hold. I may have used too much, so I would recommend trying out much smaller bits at a time to get a normal result. Most clays I have used rinse out easy with just water, but this left a bit of residue on the hands and required regular soap to get it completely off. I was impressed by the amount of hold this product provides while still being flexible and moldable. I feel like the possibilities for the styles you can achieve with this product are endless. The price is a little higher than I would like to pay, most of my products are roughly 60% cheaper, but if I can get away with using even half of my normal "serving" this will definitely be a bargain. I definitely recommend giving this clay a try Read more

Was super excited for this product. The size of the bottle compared to the price seemed like a great value. I didn't mind that it was a men's product, considering I use sea salt volumizing and texturizing products. It really shouldn't matter if it is marketed for men or women, it does the same thing. I was happy with the size of the bottle and the function of the spray nozzle, however the scent of the spray is completely over powering rendering it useless to me. I did a test spray in the air before using to see what it smelled like, and it is so strong, almost like it is trying to be over "manly." Even if I got this for my houfriend, I wouldn't want him to use it because it is so pungent. If they adjust the fragrance to make it milder, changed or removed all together, I'd consider using it, but as it is in its current form, I will not be using this product. Read more
