Ordered 2 to replace some older 4T drives. Both drives were extremely well packaged for shipping. Drives were clean and passed SMART tests according to CrystalDisk. No bad sectors or issues. They seem quiet. Getting them installed was a breeze. The quality, in our case, was well worth the price. Plus a couple of 'renewed' drives found a new home instead of going with more new ones. I'd certainly order again (and may since I have one last 4T drive to replace). Read more

I bought four of the 12TB drives for a Raid 5 NAS setup. I was a little wary, but figured that if any of them started to fail, I could just swap them out. I'm a few weeks into using this new server, and have had zero issues so far. All four drives are running perfectly fine with temperatures at optimal levels in the 30°-range. Considering how much cheaper these are over buying brand new, they were completely worth the risk, especially for a Raid 5 setup where parity allows you to fix a failing drive and recover the lost data. I will provide an update if this status changes within an unreasonable amount of time, otherwise I would say these are a good buy! Read more

Crystal Disk info shows 1 power on and no uptime. It's not impossible for them to sell me a new drive as refurbed, but more likely the data was wiped, which doesn't give me the most confidence. However, it's quiet, had no errors, and formated no problem. Precleared and set up as a back up parity drive in unraid. I will definitely update if I have any issues, but so far so good. Read more

I bought 4 of these to revamp my NAS storage cabinet and increase capacity. Drives were exactly as advertised, formatted and if I didn’t now better I’d think they were new. Packaging & labels were the same as new product. Delivery was quick as advertised. They have in use for over 39 days with daily backups in Raid5 and absolutely no issues. Read/write speed is excellent. I would purchase Seagate and Amazon renewed again without hesitation. It’s also a big plus that price was less than half of new drives. Read more

This is my second attempt at a Seagate "renewed" hard drive. Previously, I got the non-Ironwolf 12TB and it made constant clicking sounds and was so mechanically broken that it moved on the table every 10 seconds from clicking. So I tried their superior "IronWolf" version here. I immediately ran a sector test, and you can see my results attached. The drive is full of bad sectors only 1/6 of the way through the test. While I had hoped the first experience was poor luck, two out of two being complete failures on day one tells me that these are known failing hard drives being resold to those who won't test them during the return period. I use this mainly as a back up. It will be slow when it comes to writing things to it. Not for running software off of. I copy my files to my ssd when I need them. I used this to restore one of my ssds when I had to reformat it. I've had it for almost a year and no complaints. Read more
