Being a renewed item, there is a chance for flaws to exist and with the work I do, I can't have faulty drives, so I test each one I get to validate them prior tp use. Was packaged better than expected. Drive had wiped SMART data I assume. I tested w/ badblocks and it ran for about 30-40 hours w/ no errors encountered, so all good with that. Drive gets hot during sustained workload, around high 40s to 50C in open air, so good airflow is needed. Dunno how difficult it would be for me to claim seller warranty/replacement after the return window passes. Read more

Confirm that the disk is warrantied on Seagate's site before you install it. Renewed drives can come from large data centers as part of a package deal, and Seagate won't provide warranty support for them. Read more
