So much extra utility, For a few cents more. The darker colored side adds durability and is useful when high reflectivity(light and/or heat) is not desired. The larger size means you could cover a second person or potentially improvise a shelter. In their individual zip bags they're very compact. Me, I put a few pieces of all weather tape, some cordage and book of matches/few birthday candles maybe a taped snap blade right in the zip bag. Read more

I am in a retirement community, and in charge of a particular floor of residents, and I bought these over sized emergency thermal blankets to hand out in event of an emergency. I purchased these to give them to the homeless Neighbors in our city along with sleeping bags and other items. I was told that they work. They are good quality, good value for the money.
