Good summer slacks
Right away I'll admit I had very low expectations for these slacks. Gosh was I surprised. I'm trying to organize my thoughts because I just want to gush about how great they are. So let's see... First: they fit great--I'd say the fit is very accurate. Best of all, they aren't tight (I have chubby thighs) so they flow very nicely and are slightly tapered at the ankles. I really appreciate that last detail when I travel as there is no chance of the slacks touching the floor of nasty places like restrooms. So in fact, these make fantastic travel slacks. Second: Let's talk about that travel notion. These slacks roll up to practically nothing so they are super easy to pack, but I actually prefer to wear them on the plane. The elastic waist means I don't have to wear a belt so there is nothing to set off any alarms when I go through security. They are also cool and dry quickly so if I spill anything on myself, it's easy to wipe it off and the slacks then dry in no time. Third: I love the color and fabric. They really are cool and stretchy--super comfortable. The only thing I've ever found to be cooler on hot humid days (and I know hot humid days as I live in the humid southeastern part of the USA) is cotton seersucker. I made some slacks out of cotton seersucker (which is next to impossible to find now-a-days) and there is nothing cooler--I don't care what they say about new high tech fabrics--nothing beats 100% cotton seersucker on hot days. But these slacks are the next best thing. The fabric is super light but not so sheer that undergarments show through 9or anything like that--you know what I mean). It actually feels cool to the touch. They stretch well and move with me so I can do all the outdoors things I normally do like hiking, gardening, yard work, etc, and feel totally comfortable. Are they perfect? No, of course not. I do wish they didn't have edging with printed words (in this case "Fashion") on them on the pockets. I wish all manufacturers would just stop putting logos, words, etc, on everything. Thankfully, my shirts are long enough to hide the pockets. Also, although the pockets zip shut, they are just slightly too small for my cell phone. Those are minor quibbles for me and weren't bothersome enough to take off a star. I really do love these slacks and will be going through my slacks drawer to see what I can get rid off in favor of these slacks because I'll be buying a few more. At this point, I don't know how long they will last but they seem relatively well made with good elastic around the waist so I have hopes they will last for several summers. Read more
