This is an awesome safe for the price!! I’ve had a few of them and this one is by far the easiest to use! It’s SO easy to change the code and the handle to open it makes it VERY easy for arthritic hands!! Definitely well made and great for storing medications and passports, etc!! Read more
This bookshelf-size safe is superb. For one thing, the price is unbeatable for the quality of the product. It is compact, sturdy as can be for its size, very secure and easily placed on a shelf out of sight. I’m actually quite surprised based on its low cost. The digital component operated on 4 AA batteries that come with the safe and, in the event the batteries fail, there’s a hidden port to insert a key to open it. The paint is chipped off at the top of the door like someone tried to pry it open?? Why? The directions could have been a lot more user friendly. Like showing where to put the key and where the red reset button is. I had to use a knife to pop open the cover for the key or break my nails .I used the key as directed to open it, the key wouldn’t turn . I had to hit the key to get it to shove in all the way. Once I got the key in and fought to get it turned and open it.. a safe should be user friendly not have you cussing the first 2 minutes. Do not mount the safe as you have to man handle it to get it to open. I set the code as directed. The green light and beeped 2 times according to instructions this means it’s set. I shut the door put in the code and it didn’t work. I had to use the keys again, bear hug and grip the door open( cussing a bit more! This is basically an expensive toy for a kid, because an adult doesn’t need this kind of stress! There is no way it is waterproof or fire proof.. just user proof! Do not buy this POS!! So much for having a safe delivered . I’m going to pick up a Sentry safe like I should have to begin with.🙄😡 Read more
The overall build quality is ok, and it looks good if a bit cheap, but the materials are lackluster. First there is NO fireproof insulation in this safe. It is solely made of plastic and steel, and as a result has no certification for fireproofing. The safe walls are very thin, (~1.5mm including paint) not 2mm as advertised, the door is just under 3mm, again including the paint. At the least this is misleading. Normally the thickness measurements are on the bare metal. As a result the safe is vulnerable to prying attacks, or even a hack saw, or hammer could be used with minor effort, to expose the contents. As a result, it is very light, even for a safe this sized. It should be properly secured, using the bolt holes provided, on the back and bottom. If not it could be simply grabbed and easily opened later. The hinge is recessed but is very lightweight and with no bolts on the hinge side is vulnerable as well. The locking mechanism is standard for a safe in this price range and the backup key is adaquate. The handle is nice and large and is easy for an older person to use. In closing. If properly secured it should resist your standard smash and grab robbery but that’s about it. I bought this for my father-in-law to store his medications and a bit of cash in, and it is more than adaquate to discourage nosey houseguests from pilfering. For the price, it’s not bad, but I have bought better for around the same price point. Read more
