Music has been a large part of my life since I was a young child. Everything from gospel, bluegrass, pop, and rock 'n roll. My parents were protective about what I listened to, so rock 'n roll came when I was older. So, bluegrass and gospel it was. When I was Itty bitty, I can remember a man in a blue grass band playing a Jews Harp. He fascinated me. I guess that really impressed me because 60 years later, I remember him. My parents gave me music lessons, but no Jews Harp lessons like I wanted. In the years since, I've played several instruments, but no Jews Harp. So, when I saw this listed and read the product description, I thought - it's now or never! So, I ordered it, mainly to put in my collection of unusual music instruments. This is a very nicely presented Jews harp. Beautifully etched wood on the case and engraved designs on the metallic portion. I believe it's well made and tuned well. I've decided, by golly, it's never too late to learn to play it! I am very disappointed that there are no instructions that came with it. The maker probably figures that if someone orders it, they probably already know how to play it. Wrong! But I didn't remove a star for it. I got it out to try and realized I know even less than I thought about it. It's a super nice, well-made Jews harp, and I'm going to watch some different videos to help me learn to play. I'm really excited about it - I think I'll figure it out pretty quickly. I can say that getting this sure brought back a lot of good memories of long ago music. I'm so glad I ordered this! It's beautiful and I'm very happy with it. I do recommend it to others. Read more
I got this purely for the novelty, and the design of it is pretty cool. I've tried playing it a couple times and haven't got the hang of it yet, but that is expected with a new instrument. I can make some sound though! I like the intricate design on the harp and the middle piece that you pluck moves easily. The case is a nice too. It has a magnetic clasp and a nice design on it. The only downside is that after a couple months of it sitting mostly in its case, it is starting to discolor a bit around the portion you pluck, almost as if it was put in a fire (which I know for a fact it was not). Hopefully my jewelry cleaning cloth will bring it back to its full splendor. Read more
I had not hear of the this instrument before and only just discovered videos of people playing it on Youtube before deciding to get it. My roommate had hard of it and has played one before when he was younger, although he knew it by a different name. I received it under the title of "Jew Harp" but it does also go by the name of "Jaw Harp". I found it somewhat tricky to play but my roommate was able to play it right out of the box (literally). I must say that the wooden enclosure that the harp is in looks beautiful and is carved along the top of the box. The box slides open and exposed the beautiful metal harp inside. The harp has beautiful designs on it as well. Now, I had problems playing it, at first but I did get tips from my roommate and after watching some Youtube videos, I have gotten alot better. The tone of the harp is pretty consistent with the other harps I have seen and heard. This is a truly wonderful and special item that can be used as a daily device of whimsy or something that could be treasured and passed down in a family. Read more
This is the original pocket instrument, prolific around the world long before the harmonica, and prized for it's simplicity. This example is crafted to a beautiful standard. The carrying case is no less beautiful than the jaw harp itself. The case is laser cut and engraved, with a magnetic closure and a form fit slot for the instrument, and a very clever hidden hinge design. The harp is wonderfully built, with gorgeous engraving on the front and a small engraving on the back. The mouthpiece is beveled for a comfortable fit, and the trigger is easy and comfortable to pluck. You can see some milling marks in certain angles of light, but from a distance it's not noticeable. On the back, the main body of the instrument does have some sharper edges, but mostly not where you'd be placing any part of your mouth or hand. The reed itself is a very close fit to the body, and the resonations are as you'd expect from any jaw harp of this style. If you like musical instruments or are a collector, this would be a beautiful piece to add, but it is also highly usable. This is definitely good investment! Read more

I love this little mouth harp! The protective wood case that it comes in is even more beautiful and intricate than the harp itself. It's a work of art to display, and then bring out to have some fun. I don't really know if I'm playing it right, but it's fun so I just go with it. The sound is nice, and it feel very durable, so it doesn't feel like I could break it on accident or anything. It's especially fun to play it with friends, every gets a kick out of it, and comments on the craftsmanship. Read more
