Long Battery life, multifunctional device
It's less powerful than the pro version, but it uses a less power-consuming chip, meaning it should have longer battery life. I don't expect a device this small to be pro- level audio, but I do want the battery life to be long. When in idle, the battery stays for days, plus its small size, it is perfect as an "emergency" music-listening device and a bluetooth receiver. Functionally, the bluetooth works fine as both a player and a reciever and it works as a cabled Dac, the multifunction is a huge plus at this price point (an average entery level Bt reciever or cabled amplifier is between $20 to $50 based on what I know). Sound quality is ok for its level, I connect this player to Koss PP, ESW-9, and different earbugs I have. I do not have a preference of what is "good sound" because they are all just different "flavor" to me, but, the layer of different level of sound is clear enough, nothing overpowers each other (sorry for my ESL comment). It is not the premium/ superior quality, but you have EQ to play with. Morover, for its small size, it is amazing. The User interface takes a little curve to learn, but for the minimal screen size, it is logical enough. I am a delicate craftsman and I do experience miss touch when scrolling through the playlist. Other than that, the other control experience is smooth. The screen is just so small, and I understand the sacrifise with the user interface. I hope the developers can slow down the scrolling a little, so it does not scroll all the way to the end each time I miss touch. Quality wise, the device is not tightly sealed, I can see a weak light coming through the connection between the screen and the metal casing, that is the backlight of the screen. I don't feel it will break, but I will definitely keep away from dust and moist. The control wheel feels alright, I'm do not have the previous devices that people have complain about the wheel so I can't compare the difference. One thing to keep in mind is the wheel does not fix to the stem, so if you add power at a certain angle, you can take the wheel off the device. It holds by friction and it is not easy to fall, we will see how long it last. To me, it's more like a functional toy, it's playful, but also have realistic and practical function. I don't need to charge it so often, if I need to charge it everyday, one day I will forget to bring it with me and it will end up in the corner of my shelf. The small size does not add to my carry load, unlike those bulky mid to Higher end devices. I can just toss it in my backpack. The mainstreams smartphones deleted their 3.5mm headphone jacket, so this little device can become my Bt reciver whenever I want (you can't use it for phone call since it does not have a microphone).
