The wood is very smooth . The color is deep . They have the hanger loop on top that I just ran a string through to hang them. I am so happy with them . Each Cross is individually wrapped in a protective bag with a see through front . The bags are sealed so they don't fall out . All of the individual bags with the Crosses in them are then put into a larger see through bag to keep them all together . When they arrived , I was so impressed the way it was all packaged .
