The belt I received was actually just under 47.5". That still fits me fine though. I have a 32" waist but wear my pants on the hips, and I still had extra belt; you might not. When you subtract the approximately 3" for the buckling, you'll just about have that promised 45" of belt... provided you get 47.5" of belt - other reviewers note that theirs were shorter. And while it claims to be 100% nylon, it has the look and feel of canvas with enough nylon to increase its durability and also properly melt the cut end. This belt will do what it was intended to do: hold up your pants for a very low price. The belt itself is woven fabric and feels sturdy and durable. The belt was wider than expected. I have other belts similar to this one that are 1.25". This belt is 1.5" across. There is a black metal tab on the end. The buckle has smooth black metal exterior. There is a length adjustment on the underside. You cut the belt to the maximum length you want, feed the cut end through a slot underneath and snap the adjustment clip shut. There are teeth that dig into the belt material and hold it in place. This appears to work well. The rest of the buckle consists of two pieces that are hinged together. To unfasten the buckle, you pull out to open the buckle at the non-hinged end. The first time I tried this was very difficult, I thought I might permanently bend something. It eventually popped open and I was able to feed the metal tabbed end of the belt through. Once at the desired length, snap the belt shut and teeth will dig into the belt, holding it in place. After a couple of times, unfastening the clasp became much easier. While made of metal, the buckle does not feel all that durable. The hinge is not an actual hinge, just a couple of small metal tabs on one part sticking through a couple of small holes on the other part. There is a small elastic loop that came around the belt that you can use to keep the end from flopping around. I didn't like the way it looked so I removed it. In all, the quality is good for the extremely low price. If you're looking for something more durable, you will most likely be paying quite a bit more. Read more
