Genius pillow for stomach/side sleepers with new ear piercings! This is the craziest looking pillow. I am a stomach sleeper who sometimes rolls to my side. I cannot sleep any other way, so when I got my cartilage pierced and found out I couldn't sleep on it, I knew I needed an ear piercing pillow. About two years ago I went in search of a new pillow because my neck and shoulders hurt every morning. I found a great cervical pillow that was not too thick for me (most are) and I've loved it since. I really wanted to find a pillow that would help the way the cervical pillow did, but also have an opening for my space. This pillow does both jobs very well! Height adjustment: each leg of the pillow (there are 5, 4 on the outside, 1 in the center) has two cylindrical foam pieces inside. One is about 3 inches tall, the smaller one is about 1.5 inches (see picture of green/yellow foam). Each side of the pillow has a zipper so you can reach in and remove one of the cylinders from the two legs on that side. It's a bit awkward but not hard.. I took out the 3 inch ones because I don't like a tall pillow. The middle leg has it's own zipper to access the foam. The top of the pillow has loose fluff. You can remove as much of the fluff as you want. I took out about half the fluff, tried it for a night, and took out more so I'm only using about a quarter of the fluff it came with. The bag with loose fluff is what I removed. The only cons I have are that I had to take out so much fluff so it wouldn't be too tall that the pillow is a bit lumpy. I don't mind, I'm still sleeping better than the original ear piercing pillow I had but I do wish the fluff could be smoothed together more. The second con is washing. There is no separate pillow case. The instructions say to either throw the whole pillow in the wash, or remove all the stuff then wash the case. At first removing all the fluff seemed daunting, but now that I've removed most anyway it probably won't be a big deal. I don't like the idea of washing all the fluff and foam blocks since I feel like it might not dry out well. While this pillow is not quite as supportive as my cervical pillow, it's much better than a standard pillow or the flat ear piercing pillows I've tried. It keeps my pain from being a stomach sleeper to a minimum. The hole for my ear is also very large so I don't have to be too careful when switching from side to side. I just wish it wasn't so lumpy, and because of that and not second case for washing, I do feel like it's over priced, but it really is the best concept for stomach sleepers with ear piercings! I don't have pierced ears, but I do struggle with pressure and discomfort on my ears when sleeping on my side. I thought this pillow's design—with the cutouts to relieve ear pressure—would be a perfect solution.The pillow is fully machine washable and tumble dryable, which is a big plus. However, I'm still a bit uneasy about there being no removable pillowcase. I understand why it's designed this way (the shape and arm holes would make a separate case tricky or impossible), but it would feel more hygienic to me with one.The biggest issue for me was the height. Even after I removed half of the foam blocks from each "leg," the elevated sides still felt too high for my frame and sleeping position. I think this pillow would work much better for someone taller or broader-shouldered than I am.The concept is really smart—relieving ear pressure while supporting the neck and allowing the arm to drop naturally—but unfortunately, it just didn't fit my body or preferences. I bought this because I mostly sleep on my side and my ears recently got pierced. I was hoping for something that would keep pressure off healing areas while still supporting my neck. The idea of a center ear hole plus built in arm holes sounded like it could actually make a night and morning difference, not just another pillow on the bed. In daily use it feels different but familiar. The ear opening keeps my pierced ear elevated and free from pressure, while the arm holes let my shoulders rest in a natural position. I still adjust a few times a night, but when I settle in I notice my head and neck stay aligned and my shoulder stays supported through the middle of the night. What stood out most is how soft the cotton feels and how breathable it is. The design really does seem to reduce hot spots and the two zones work together to quiet the tossing and turning. I wake up with less neck stiffness and my piercing area feels calm rather than irritated. A small note is that this is a specialized sleep aid, not a standard pillow, so it does take some getting used to and it is a larger, bulkier shape on the bed. As someone who just got their ears pierced for the first time and is a dedicated side sleeper, this pillow made an immediate difference. Before, my ears were still sore and discharging fluid even after two weeks of the new piercing, and upon some research, sleeping on my side was slowing down the healing process. The center opening completely removes pressure from the ear, which allowed me to sleep comfortably without irritating or causing pain from the piercings further. The pillow itself is supportive and does a great job keeping my head and neck aligned while preventing direct contact with the ear. Once I started using it consistently, the soreness improved and my ears were no longer aggravated overnight. It feels well-made and supportive enough to stay in place rather than flattening out during the night, which is especially helpful if you move around in your sleep. The only drawback for me is the height. I wish it sat a bit closer to the mattress, as it feels slightly tall for my personal preference. I only seem to be able to remove the stuff from the main pillow, not the posts. That said, this did not stop it from doing exactly what it is meant to do, and the benefit to my piercings far outweighs that minor issue. Read more
