When I found this airless indoor “silent” basketball, I assumed it was a gimmick... but figured it was worth a try if it meant restoring some peace and quiet. When it arrived, I opened the box and saw a crumpled, misshapen object and immediately thought I’d been sent a dud. Then I realized it had been vacuum sealed for shipping. After opening the bag and letting it sit for a bit, it expanded to full size. It did take more than a day to fully expand to its round shape. I suggest squeezing it from several different angles... this helps it expand more quickly. For anyone wondering, it is a regulation Size 7 ball (29.5" circumference), and yes, my son actually measured it. The texture and the molded grooves mimic the channels of a real basketball and provide a solid grip, so it feels familiar in the hands. It's a bit lighter than a real basketball and requires a bit more effort/force to bounce it. Most importantly, it’s remarkably quiet. Even on hardwood floors, the sound is minimal compared to a standard ball. It doesn’t rebound exactly like a fully inflated basketball, but it returns roughly 90% of the bounce height. That’s enough to realistically practice dribbling, ball control, and moves without sacrificing the feel of real gameplay. Wow it really is silent! I can practice my dribble at home without waking anyone up. The weight feels similar to a regular basketball, there is a bit less grip but the dribbling mechanics is pretty similar, I am shocked and bounces like a regular ball, I am amazed. Great product. Read more
Ball comes compressed and you have to let it self inflate. It becomes official size afterwards and it's really fun to play with in the house. Nice and quiet, it's pretty cool. Read more
