I have used an old model of this that used replaceable cartridges and I find the new model easier to use. I haven’t figured out how to change the “area zapped” clip on it, but I will eventually. The storage case is large but very convenient and nice to use. It works only on the lowest setting, and I really don't see much improvement to the amount of hair growth reduction. I'm South Indian and have black hair and this will only work in auto with the setting all the way down. I would consider my skin medium to medium-dark at worst. It would also cause me to break out in whiteheads. I'm switching to Laser. The razor that came with it was nice though! Read more

I ordered this for my teen daughter who has very fair, sensitive skin in order to help reduce the amount of razor usage she needed to maintain her armpits. She and her mother tried to get it working but were unable to get it to consistently function. This is her (their) assessment: - The device is quite large and solid, making it feel like a quality product, and the included padded case for the device and accessories was a welcome touch to help keep this expensive device organized and safe. - The size of the device is manageable, but also a bit cumbersome. I can still use it easily enough with one hand, and the adjustable swivel head is a nice feature that helps with this, but I do wish it was more compact. - It comes with a lot of thorough instructions on proper use, which were pretty straightforward and made sense to me and my mom (who helped me try it). It also had many precautions in the instructions and had many requirements before you could use the device to ensure nothing bad happened, which both alerted us to potential dangers and made it seem safety-focused. - At first it seemed like it was going to work but, frustratingly, the unit repeatedly indicated it could not read my skin tone (fair Caucasian skin), preventing it from operating. We tried for a very long time to get past this issue but no amount of setting adjustment or accessory usage could overcome the skin tone rejection. - Also frustrating, sometimes during use it would just randomly shut off. I’m not sure if that’s a defect in the unit or some safety feature silently kicking-in, but there was no indication why it was turning off. - Overall it seems like a quality device, and I feel like it might have worked well if it could have read my skin tone, but even after much effort we just could not get it to work, which is the reason for my rating. I absolutely love this Silk'n hair removal device and at its current high price I ask myself, can the price be justified? Short answer is yes, here's why... ...1-Compare it to going for laser hair removal therapy/sessions that could cost hundreds to even thousands of dollars. If you follow the regimen that is suggested within this Silk'n hair removal kit, its essentially the same as going to laser sessions but at least this Silk'n kit allows you to do it in the privacy of your own home at your own leisure. 2-Another good reason to justify price is that at least regrowth of hairs are much slower if not some appear not to have grown back vs razors where hairs appear days later. ( everyone is unique and will have different results). So far, 2 week use shows barely any regrowth. Some hairs did grow back but definitely at a slower more manageable pace. Shipped fast. Professionally packaged. Removal device is nestled inside a nicely design carry/storage case. Included is the very detailed instruction booklet ( mostly different languages). The device itself is larger than most but pretty much intuitive. The simple button under side of the head allows this hair removal device to give different angles for those hard to reach areas ( see my photos of different angles). Best results are achieved by following the regimen ( average 6 sessions). I believe and intend to stay on a routine to achieve long lasting results as described and will update of my results.
