IF you are a careful and concerned travel trailer driver, you want to know what is going on with your rig AND your truck. A key piece of information is the tongue weight "loaded" of your trailer. Your truck has a payload you MUST stay within to be safe. Further, you need to understand the relationship between your truck and trailer in terms of the percentage of weight that is resting on your hitch. And there are factors that comprise the details of all of this that determine how safe you and likely your family as you drive down the road. In reality, you should also utilized truck weigh scales as part of the overall process. This is about the easiest way to measure your tongue weight I've seen. I got it in the mail, and weighed in less than 10 minutes confirming what I hoped. I was at 13% of my trailer total weight loaded with camping gear. And I even put my likely 100 plus lbs of weight distribution hitch inside the storage area so have some cushion. One alert here though. The size of the base of this device is very small relatively speaking. It is very easy for the tongue to over balance it and move left or right IF you have not fully secured your wheels they they cannot move even an inch or so. On my driveway, when I parked at home I guess I got sloppy and just sort of slammed my wheel chocks down and as such there was about an inch of play so the trailer could move a tiny bit. The trailer was NOT perfectly aligned with the tip of this scale and the narrow base allowed it to start to tip the scale over. It didn't, because there wasn't that much flex but always be careful when you are messing with 1200 lbs. A failure to do so can either damage your equipment or you. The item is as described and was delivered in great condition. The base is a bit small however I placed the scale on a larger wood base. Make sure you have you wheels secured in you trailer to prevent rolling. When I lowered my 5k lb camper on the device, it held firm and straight. Only lift your tongue jack 1” off the ground to be safe. Still, it worked perfectly and gave me an easily readable measurement. Read more

Love the 'mechanical' not digital design of this unit. It's intuitive to use, and first time found out my rv tongue weight was 200 lbs high! The readout on the bar shaft is legible, and clearly marked. I chose this unit over the other wacky devices for its simplicity and ease of use. It works. And it's reasonably priced compared to a lot of other tongue weight scale devices out there, and less complex. Would buy again. Read more
