After having a professionally installed alarm for the past 20+ years, I was skeptical about using an alarm that is self installed. But, all alarm reviews say Simplisafe is one of the top options to buy. Even ADT is going to self install kits recently. So, I decided to roll the dice. One of my main concerns was a theif finding the base unit during the disarm delay and destroy the base unit before the alarm goes off and the notification gets sent out (Smash & Crash). I added two extra sirens and placed one indoor and the other outdoor. I hid the base station. When the alarm goes off, the base station and other sirens will be going off at the same time, making it nearly impossible to pinpoint the base station location and drawing attention to the house. The install only took an hour to install 3 motion detectors, 2 external sirens, 1 water detector, 1 smoke detector, 4 door sensors, and a glass breakage sensors. Programming mode is super intuitive and takes less than a minute to set up each device. Cleaned the surface with alcohol prior to sticking a sensor on and no issues. The app is also user friendly and useful to arm/disarm the system and check status. Been using the system for months and it has worked flawlessly with zero false alarms. Based on my experience, would highly recommend Simplisafe. Read more
Great home security system, but I do wish it did more. Pros: - Very easy to configure and install - No subscription necessary - Batteries included for everything - Ability to control by keypad or app if connected to WiFi - App shows WiFi strength and battery life of all devices - Very loud if alarm is triggered - Room for expansion such as doorbell cameras, additional alarm speakers, sensors etc Cons: - App only logs major events such as adding new sensors or an alarm is triggered. No logs of when a sensor was opened/closed throughout the day - Unless you pay for subscription, only 1 account per system. Meaning you have to share your username/passwords if you want others to have app access - If you use a custom name for a sensor and enable the feature to call out the sensor name upon open/entry, the system is not smart enough to call out the custom name. - Camera quality not so great Notes for FYI: - Optional: $32 per month for monitoring - All devices can mount by screw or by using the pre-applied double side tape - Recommended not to exceed 1.5 inches of distance between the 2 piece sensor Read more

I had positive hopes after initial ease of installation and presumed quality for the price. But unfortunately my base station kept getting disconnect errors from all my sensors at random intervals, which I would make the base station beep in the middle of the night and while I was out of the house and my wife would call and tell me to remotely reset the errors which was very frustrating, so I called and talked with tech support and they sent me a base station replacement after a lot of resistance because they didn’t want to because I purchased on Amazon and not directly, which I think is a clear sign of a bad company and product support. I eventually did get the replacement base station and it was a dud and wouldn’t install, so I called tech support again and even they couldn’t activate it properly and all they ended up doing was mess up my account to the point that I couldn’t resolve and then they canceled my service membership without warning. So now I just have a bunch of e-waste. I just give up with this faulty product and this company in general. Their tech support has no idea what they are doing. What a waste of money and time. This was an excellent buy due to prime days at nearly 50% off retail. The 11 piece system was just the right size for my 2 bedroom 2nd home. The 6 entry sensors covered the entry doors, garage, and two external sheds , while the two motion sensors and the camera basically ensured that any entrance breached via windows or doors was within their range to detect. The two bedrooms were watched by the camera as anyone trying to enter or exit those two rooms had to break windows and then enter the cameras visual range to access any other parts of the house. Nothing of real value was in those rooms so I did not use extra sensors for them. The one issue I felt might come up is that the door /window sensors have a limited range to reach the main unit and a weak battery may result in in and out contacts to the main unit. . Read more
