Well laid out book, easy to understand, well illustrated. My 10 year old granddaughter is excited to try all the stunts in the book! Read more
Decent book if you’re starting to learn skateboarding tricks and get the basic concepts down. The illustrations of the kids skateboarding were a little odd, but not a big deal. The illustrations still convey the main steps of each tricks. It does have a link to videos which is helpful as it’s a little hard to describe the tricks with just words and still shots. Read more
Awesome book for kids & anyone learning to skateboard. My kids love reading this because it has pictures with the words. They wanted to learn to skateboard and neither myself or husband have done so as a kid. This book, along with skateboard trainer rubbery things for the wheels has boosted both their confidence, as well as eased some of our anxiety watching them teach themselves. They wear helmets too of course! I lived a resource to bring along to the skatepark or practice at home. They learned to read recently so it works out amazing and the pics prove an easy way to see they're reading correctly too! Love this, gamechanger, along with the trainers to put on the wheels of their boards, and safety gear such as helmet and knee guards. I put 8 as the age, kids are 7 & 9. They wanted to learn a year ago, don't know what took me so long to find this book. It's perfect for them!! Read more
Ordered for my grandson a few things in book he found useful. Other things in book he already knew how to do. Read more
This book is a fun and interesting book that illustrates how to do various skateboard tricks but it has some real challenges. 1. Most of the tricks require you to be able to know how to ollie. I am a beginner and don't know how to to do that. I can probably find out on YouTube but I was hoping this book wouldn't need supplemental instruction. 2. It can take a full riding season (3-4 months in my area) to learn ONE of the tricks well and that's with riding multiple times a week for 30-60 minutes, especially the flat ground tricks. The tone of the book is that it makes these tricks look really easy and achievable when that's probably not the case. Read more
Jack Boyd’s ‘Skateboard Tricks’ is a collection of…well, skateboard tricks. Each trick is methodically described in six steps, and these are further enhanced by cartoon illustrations. Not being a skateboarder myself, I can’t assess the author’s accuracy. But he seems to know his subject, and he presents it in a clear, comprehensive manner. However, he does tend to use skateboarders’ jargon, which—unless the reader is already an accomplished skateboarder—would probably benefit from a glossary. Read more
Nicely organized instruction on skateboarding. Goes through a progression from simple to complex, from air to slide and ramp tricks. The illustrated instructions are clear and consistently formatted. The links to videos are very helpful to reinforce the methods. Probably best suited for 12 and older. Read more
