This is one of those items that I ordered on a "whim". I wasn't sure if it would really work (keep its shape, etc. for an extended period of time). I was hesitant to try it, as I have not really been a fan of other gel foam type products. However, the Skechers branding convinced me to order it. Using it has made somewhat of a difference in my comfort level when I save to sit in front of a computer for hours at a time. The cushion is a good size and fit for my chair and would probably fit most chairs rather well too. There is a non-skid bottom, which is a great idea, as many cushions tend to move around on a chair rather than stay in place as this one does. I like that the cover can be removed and put in the washing machine. This was important to me. At first, I could not find the zipper to remove the cover- I looked and looked and looked. Finally, I went back to the posting on Amazon and then saw a photo that showed where the zipper was located. Sure enough- there it was- right where they showed it would be. That's a good thing because I do like the fact that the zipper is pretty well hidden and not glaring out as an attachment to the cushion. What I do not like is trying to get the inner cushion out of the cover. The underside of cushion itself is about 16" across at the widest point and about 15" from top to bottom. However, the zippered opening is only about 10" across. It sounds do-able, but in reality, it was difficult to remove the inner cushion and replace it in the cover. The zipper kinked a few times when I tried to open the cover to remove the cushion, but it did ok when I tried to close it when replacing the cushion. I have concerns about how long the zipper will hold up. I didn't find any "cooling" effect from the covered cushion at all. It could be just me, but I did not notice any difference from my previous cloth covered cushion. Additionally, I found the shape to be uncomfortable where it tapers toward the front, where your thighs are. I turned the cushion around stuck that part in back and it seems to work better for me. I am not suggesting that it is a design flaw, as it truly depends on your body shape, and for me, simply turning it around did resolve that issue. When I initially received the cushion, it did have a slight "plastic" smell, especially when I removed the cover for the first time. It took a few days for that smell to disappear, and it seems to be ok now. I am "on the fence" about this chair cushion. I don't totally dislike it, and it is still on my chair. But, as far as reviewing it, I feel that I would not order another one. I do think it is important to note that if you are not satisfied with the product, Skechers will provide a full refund or replacement. However, since the cushion is still on my chair, I am not taking them up on their offer. I am still giving this item a 4-star review, as I feel that the areas of concern for me do not appear to be any design flaw (other than the zipper and the zipper opening size). Most of my issues may be just personal preference based on body shape. Skechers makes seat cushions? That was news to me, but now I’m glad I know. This one turned out to be a really nice upgrade for my office chair. I had been using an older foam cushion for a while, and it did the job, but this is definitely a step up. The combination of gel and memory foam makes it both comfortable and supportive, and it stays noticeably cooler during long periods of sitting. So far, seems to be made of a good material that can stand up to near daily use. So good in the durability department. Support wise, it's great! Nice and comfy to sit on while at my desk. It fits well on a standard office chair and doesn’t slide around much once it’s in place. After using it for a bit, I can definitely tell the difference in overall comfort, especially during longer work meetings. Great upgrade if you’re spending a lot of time sitting. It may be a stylistic preference, but I found this to be kind of thin. It seems nice out of the package. It looks great for sure, and it does seem well made. If you are someone who only needs lighter support, I think this could actually be great. For me it did add some comfort, but compared to sturdier ones I've had, it doesn't feel as good. Read more
