You can't go wrong with this face mask. It looks great and it's functional. The material is a medium thickness. You can easily wear it under your helmet, hard hat, ski mask, baseball cap, whatever hat you're wearing because the head covering comfortably hugs your head. The outside material is a smooth polyester that makes it easy when putting on and taking off your hat. The inside is a soft fleece that keeps your face, neck and head warm. The face coverage is independent to the head and neck coverage and it only moves when you adjust it. You can easily pull it all the way up above your nose or wear it half way down or below your chin as a neck warmer or when you need to talk or eat without having to take the whole mask off. Regardless of how you adjust it, it doesn't impact the coverage on your head or neck so you're able to stay warm and protected. I haven't had to wash it yet, but it's 100% polyester and that shouldn't be a problem in the washer. For longevity and to not compromise the integrity of the material and the shape I would hang to dry. It also has slits on each side that you can pull your eyewear through. I thought it was for earbuds. I only wear wired earbuds and when I go on my walks I like to wear them with the wire on the outside so I can quickly and easily take them out or put them on. My head is small so that might be why the holes are closer to my ears. It worked for me with no problems. This Balaclava Mask is comfortable and it keeps you warm without being bulky. We had our first snow the other day and boy am I glad that I had these to protect my face! What I appreciated about this balaclava is that it did a good job at protecting my cheeks during the severe windchill. Usually while it snows with lots of wind, I get pelted in the face and it stings a lot especially if your body hasn’t acclimated to being outside. The balaclava is made of polyester fabric which is both stretchy and does a great job to keep your face warm. My head is big because of my hair and with this on, it was just the right amount of tightness all around without falling off. When it got too hot I could easily just remove the head part but still leave the bottom to protect my cheeks. Breathing with the balaclava was easy despite my deep breaths due to shoveling. There are even holes to strap in your ski goggles which I didn’t actually use. This is a really good balaclava that protects your face from the stinging pain of windchill and snow. I got this as I was going to be spending the coldest part of winter in South Dakota. I got to use it plenty of of times, and I will say it does what it is supposed to do. It is not the heaviest material for a cap, so I used another knit cap over it.The nice thing about it being relatively thin is a knit cap slid nicely over it. The cap is generally comfortable and fits well--eye cutout is good, the face covering strap I guess you'd call it, is somewhat adjustable. That is a good thing, as if you have longer moustache hair, it can get pretty annoying fit. My 1/2 reason for not giving it 5 stars. The other 1/2 is is being somewhat lightweight.). So here is what I think. Even if it is thinnish, it is still wind protection, and that is welcome. Again, I'd use a cap if it is moderately cold, as it is not going to be overly insulated for the top of your head, but keep in mind, I was in Northern South Dakota. Your cold and wind might not be our cold and wind. As far as keeping your face warm, and your ears, this was great for that. The quality of it seems fine. Good Stitching, the slots for the glasses arms (or narrow bands) don't look cheaply done. I think this is a good product. Well worth the cost. Read more
