Please excuse any strange words. 60 years ago on the boardwalk in Ocean City I used to win backscratchers on a couple of the novelty games on the boardwalk. I would always give them to grandma and she would be thankful I never understood why until I am now over 60 myself and sometimes you just need to scratch your back so I asked Alexa and she found these and put them in my cart and I bought them and it works great it’s very heavy duty. You actually get two of them one I gave to my older brother and it just works. Good scratching your back. i used to think a back scratcher is a back scratcher. Boy was i wrong. It's not rocket science and there is nothing special about these- beyond a decent value in getting two for this price. But let me tell you why i even bought these. I moved from a 5br home to a single br apt during my recent move cross country. So I've been setting up this new apt with as cheap of stuff as i could find (since most of my stuff is still back on the west coast in storage.. i didn't want to double-buy too many things). So i originally bought this 5-pack of cute, cheap, metallic extendable back scratchers. Figrued enough for guests and placing one in every possible location i could ever want to scratch my back. Learned a quick lesson lol. The length of the "teeth scratchers" MATTERS. The cute metallic ones had shorter teeth. Turns out it means it's not that effctive in scratching unless you have the exact perfect angle (which based ont he curvature of your back or body- is hard to execute). SO MY TIP TO YOU: in looking for a back scratcher, look for long scratching teeth. That's how i decided on these (plus its value and getting two) and it does not disappoint. Scratching is so easy and effective now- no problem. I do think the ultimate then is the extendable arm kind (if you can find one with long teeth) and metallic for durability. I've been known to crack bamboo ones (perhaps a function of non-flexible arms thus flexing the arm to the right angle at times). But.. better long teeth over everything else. Read more

this item and my two Chapstick came in a huge box. It also had filler paper in it as well. Such a waste for just two products. They seem of good quality and will probably be very effective. They look durable. Read more

They offered me a full refund and allowed me to keep the scratchers, without any conditions. I appreciate the commitment to customer satisfaction, so I'll bump my review up. The original review gave two stars, and the new will be four. I'm still disappointed that the QA process allowed this scratcher to be shipped at all, but appreciate the contact. Besides the initial splinters, the scratchers seem as good as any other bamboo-type ones I've used: stiff, good length, easy to grasp. The scratchy end hasn't had any problems, so I'm comfortable using it after smoothing it down myself **Original review below** As soon as I received my back scratchers, I unpacked them and went to down on my miserable back. Then, my hand became miserable, from a splinter! The finish on these scratchers leaves something to be desired, for sure I plan to keep them and just sand them down myself. I like that it is one whole piece! I had too many scratching heads fall or break off the handles! I don’t care for telescoping handles either! I feel it does a better job relieving my itching than the metal or plastic pieces! I’m glad I have two of them. They seem pretty strong and are easy to use. Read more
