It was super simple to set up and I have been using it constantly to make slushies at home! The no-ice-needed feature is a huge plus just pour in your drink, choose a preset, and it does all the work. The fast chill technology really delivers, and the texture comes out perfectly smooth and icy every time. The 5 preset programs make it super easy to switch between different drinks, and I love that I can adjust the thickness to get exactly the consistency I want. It’s been a hit with both kids and adults in my house, slushies, frozen lemonade, and even fun mocktails turn out amazing. The media could not be loaded. I got this for my 2 kids (9 and 6) as they love shaved ice with syrup. I thought this would be a good way to prepare them at home using natural ingredients. Overall, it works, but if you plan on making a lot of shaved ice or often, you may want to find a better tool. [+] It produced about 2 cups of shaved ice using the 1 ice mold. [+] The ice was shaved thin and had a pretty regular texture, no large ice bits [+] This is a fun device for the occasional dessert or drink prep for 1 or 2 people. Families with lots of kids (or heavy cocktail drinkers!) will need a better tool that can handle more quantity [+] You can drizzle it with different flavors to meet specific taste! For our first attempt we made a strawberry syrup with some frozen strawberries, sugar and water, super simple and probably healthier than a lot of processed syrups out there... [-] My main observation is that it took several tries to reposition the top piece for the ice to shave properly. After a few turns of the handle, it seems like the ice stops pressing hard enough on the blade to shave properly. Unscrewing the top and reposition it would solve it for the next few turns, but it seems the spring doesn't keep enough pressure on the ice to keep shaving it all in one go. [-] you only get 1 plastic cup / ice mold so unless you procure additional ones of approximately the same size, you will be limited to output 1 large ice cube. [-] it gets pretty laborious as you have to spin the handle a lot to get just a little bit of shaved ice. Definitely OK for 1 or 2 cups (with some elbow grease), but for larger quantities this would quickly become impractical. [-] the design of the device overall could be better, the receptacle at the bottom that catches the ice is just loosely placed at the bottom, but it easily moves as you turn the handle, with the risk of ice falling out of the container. Overall, it works and it is a fun activity for 1 or 2 kids, the device itself is pretty basic but it did the job. Read more

I love snow cones and have been wanting to buy a big electric snow cone maker for a few years now but haven't pulled the trigger on it. I know how labor intensive the crank style ones are and haven't wanted to do it this way, but I decided to give this little maker a chance when it came up for review. I am glad that I did, it is much easier than I expected it to be and it works great. I used to have the classic Snoopy crank snow cone machine as a kid and I will never forget how tired my arm got to make the tiniest little snow cones. This memory is what has kept me from getting another crank style snow cone maker. I am thrilled to say that cranking a complete puck of ice into a snowcone did not take much arm strength at all, and I am as far as it gets from buff. The crank moves smoothly and I didn't have to put muscle into turning it. A complete ice puck fills the snow catching container twice and is enough for two people to have medium sized snow cones, or one person to have a rather large one. I got some extra snow cone freezer containers from another company at the same time that I got this because I know how much I love snowcones and I anticipated one puck at a time not being enough for me. I was worried at first when I saw how much bigger the containers were than the one that came with the snow cone maker, but the frozen pucks do fit in the ice compartment and they shave just fine. If you don't want to buy extra ice containers like I did, you can put frozen ice pucks in a freezer bag and stockpile them slowly as you make them one by one. I'm happy with my little snowcone maker and am glad that I tried it. I still want a big electric maker, but this is perfect for when I just want to make one or two snowcones at a time without a lot of cleanup. Read more
