Totally works!! Great quality and great color match. Totally bargain for the price. They even provide 2 extra pen tips for future applications. It was super easy and you cannot tell there is curb rash on my rim. I also used it to touch up a few other small paint chip spots on my rims (maybe from car wash, not sure, but can't see them anymore!). If you look for the curb rash, sure you can tell it's been touched up when looking up close, because it's not perfectly smooth like the rest of the rim. Any other distance away, you cannot tell. Trust the reviews. The people complaining have deep curb rash that is so deeply scratched, like they want a restoration in a bottle... come on! Even so, if you did not succeed to fully paint it (yea I saw the one guys photo that looked like he did it with a sharpie lol), you're not using it correctly. I've never done this before and I could have 100% fully painted that with this pen and have no silver showing thru whatsoever! I am a woman with no kind of experience with doing any type of work on cars, besides cleaning my own car. This really is not hard and totally worth it. Btw, you don't really need the tape, however it is helpful to find the spot you had touched up (to see if you need another coat). Trust me, I did a spot without tape and couldn't find it after, which is a good thing! And no the tape doesn't stick well, idk why there are complaints about that? Why would you want tape fully stuck to your rim? It does however stay in place if you use small pieces, which you need small pieces anyhow when making a curve pattern. Edit: if you need to touch-up again, it is best to do a thicker coat, rather than attempting 2 thin coats. Apparently, dry paint on metal wants to wipe off during the second coat. I've had this for a few months now and the paint is still good. I've kept it stored upright, just in case. If you need to do another touch-up, change the tip, don't bother trying to use the old one. As hard as I’ve tried to avoid Curb Rash! It happens! And even worse when your vehicle has black rims. I had several lil 1inch long scratches and still hadn’t used this kit! My husband gets so upset with me when I’d scratch! Curbs in drive thrus are the Devil! The most recent accident was me. Hitting curb in neighborhood and omg a long over 12”scratch! Well this kit did a decent job! You clean rim first then sand the the harsh metal shards kinda like filing your nails! Using that foam sandpaper block once done shake shake that pen get paint flowing to TIP and Dab it on the discolored (scratch ). Don’t move the car let it dry and it’s good! From distance looks fine just no up close you can Tell! The touch up paint at Auto store didn’t work at all! But this kit and I did it myself! I’m a woman taking responsibility for the Curb Rash! Gave it a one because the paint pen never worked. Although I followed all directions the paint never soaked into any of the 3 tops it came with. Even after it looked like it finally soaked, no paint came off on my rim. Tried to get a refund but after you try to use it you are left with a bunch of trash covered in paint that never made it on your rim. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!! It is overpriced and WILL NOT WORK!!! I’ll start off by saying the process is very easy and fast. I fixed it myself in about 20-30ish minutes, most of the time allowing the paint to dry to apply another coat. It took about 3 coats to look good. I plan on replacing my rim completely but for now this is an awesome fix! Obviously, from close up you can kind of tell it’s paint. But as you can see in my last photo, you really can’t tell the rim is damaged. I will say that the sandpaper kind of sucks, but the paint is relatively thick enough to cover up some of the scratching. I will say for 14 bucks this is a pretty awesome temporary fix.
