This is the second one of these deadbolts that I have ordered because I have been pleased with the first. As far as I can tell, it is the same exact one. I have had the first one installed on an exterior door for about 8 months, and have had zero issues with it. It is also on an exterior door to my house, it gets used multiple times a day, and I have not had to change the batteries yet. So the quality you get for the price is unmatched. This time it will replace the deadbolt on the door leading to my attached garage. Installation was fairly quick, took about 15 minutes including removing the old deadbolt, installing this one, and programming a code. If you have installed door knobs before you should have no issue with this. It fits perfectly in the spot of the old deadbolt, no issues with the latch or anything. There is also an autolock feature, which I did not install but may do so at a later date. It is comprised of a sensor that plugs into another wire connector within the deadbolt and a magnet that you stick to the opposite side of the door frame. Both pieces come with 3M tape on them and sit outside of the deadbolt itself, so it may not be aesthetically pleasing to some people. Read more
The fingerprint sensor doesn’t work well at all. Funny enough, it will work great when first registering a print but after a couple of days it will stop working, and it doesn’t matter how clean my hands are or how warm or cold it is. Besides that complaint, the lock works great when using a code or key. It was straightforward to install. There’s an optional component you can attach to automatically lock the door whenever it’s closed which could be useful. Read more
I was kinda skeptical when I decided to order this door knob and give it a try. I was still, for the most part, a little nervous about using it on our front door, right after installing it. Well it was simple to install, pretty much the same as installing any other door knob. It comes with some really helpful, explanatory instructions, that walk you through how to get it all set up, with everyone's fingerprints, and how to use your fingerprints to unlock your door and gain entry. After about a week of using it, I was able to start relaxing and trusting the new knob. It works great and hasn't let me down yet. The asking price for this unit seems a little bit high, but really, for what this product does for you and the way it makes your life so much easier, it really isn't such a bad price. I installed this smart fingerprint + keypad door lock at home and I’ll say—first impressions are great. The sleek black design gives our front door a serious upgrade, and I really like that you can use either your finger or a code to get in (no keys lost in the couch again). But (and it’s a fairly big one): the install took more time than I expected. I had to “finagle” the fit, shimming the door a bit, adjusting the strike plate, and wrestle the programming menu longer than I’d hoped. Once it was in, it works fine—but the setup isn’t plug-and-play. Also, while it feels decent, it doesn’t feel as beefy as the heavy-duty deadbolt locks I’ve used in the past—so if security is your #1 concern it might not check that box fully. Bottom line: If you want a stylish upgrade and are okay investing a little time on installation and maybe layering other security measures, this lock is a solid choice.
