GREAT cushion! Stay in place even on big feet. They are NOT hot!

Hooray. I should have known SmartWool was the answer to my sore feet! Have tried so many different brands but the cushion in the other brands were comical. These socks are super comfy, and gave thick cushioning perfect for my heels AND toes. I have a large foot and most socks this style disappear into my shoe and under my foot… not these! They stay put and dront slide a bit. Even the little part that comes above the back of the shoe is thicker..: I’m guessing that helps keep them in place. Nice construction. These awesome socks are worth the price - I’m in Florida so don’t think your feet are gonna be “too hot in wool!”. I swear my feet are so much happier than the other various brands I’ve tried. They are awesome and great for hikers (or anyone!). Also, appreciated the color choices! Read more

Go to Sock

Warm in winter and comfortable in summer too. The only brand I want to wear anymore. Very durable. I am still wearng Smartwool socks that are over ten years old. The small fit is perfect with no bunching and no pressure on the toes. Take care to choose your cushion levels. This style is full cushion and the targeted cushion offers minor compression at the arch. Read more

Love them

Smart wheel socks are the way to go. They are a great quality well and true size work well in the winter to keep your feet warm work well in the summer to keep your feet from sweating. Good look, good feel I know they’re on the expensive side, but they’re definitely worth it. Take care of your feet. Read more

Smartwool vs Darn Tough

"Smartwool Women's Performance Hike Light Cushion Low Ankle" "Darn Tough Women's Light Hiker No Show Lightweight Hiking Sock" I've walked for 3-4 hours for three days in each pair. Three days in one pair of socks might be excessive, but I wanted to test it out. I walked btw, not much hiking in my future, but I got some Merrell's (Merrell Women's J035850 Moab 3 MID WP Waterproof Hiking Shoe=AWEsome) to attempt more stability (No Falling!) since I sprained my ankle a while ago and it's still not 100%. the main difference: I thought I was getting similar socks to compare Darn Tough vs Smartwool based on the descriptions, but it turns out the weight/thickness is so different it's not an equal comparison. They are both good but the Darn Tough are thinner and less padded, if that's what you're going for, or you might want the thicker and more padded Smartwool. material: they are both wool and nylon with the Smartwool having a higher percentage of wool. After three straight days neither pair had a stink (Yay!) but the Darn Tough had pilled some. comfort: Both pair were very comfortable, my feet never felt sweaty even with the heavier Smartwool, and they didn't slip either. washing up: I washed them both by hand, inside-out as recommended and left flat to dry. It worked fine for both pair. Inside-out the Darn Tough looked pretty 'stringy' in the weaving where the pattern changes, not so with the Smartwool but the inside of the Smartwool did have a few threads peeking out from the body of the sock. availability: for these particular Darn Tough, Amazon has 3 in my size and their website has 1 more, compared to the 7 Amazon choices for these Smartwool. conclusion: If these were your only two choices I'd go by which weight/padding you'd prefer, but both brands have so many more choices to check out, it feels like you can't lose. However if some pilling would bug you every day, or you don't want to see threads on the inside, then those particular Darn Toughs might not be for you. Read more

Feel lovely customer service great

The socks had a hole in the side when i opened them. The customer service was great. I returned the socks to Amazon and got a new pair just a couple of days later. They feel lovely. Hug my feet just right and feel high quality. Cant wait to try them out on a planned trip. Read more

Pretty much all I will wear

I am a self admitted sock hoarder. I love socks and I am even considered a sock snob by my family. There is nothing like putting on socks that are soft, cushioned, and fit perfectly. Smartwool has perfected their product. I am not a fan of the price, but I have learned how to find their sales. I love these cushioned ankle socks the best. I have other brands but I find myself reaching for the Smartwool every time. I also have the knee-highs for winter and long distance sports. Recommend those as well. Soft, not scratchy, cushioned, and cute colors. Can't go wrong, just find a sale. Read more
