In my experience, these are the best socks. For comfort, for warmth, for fit, for everything. They have a thicker toe, sole, heel, and back of ankle, you know, every part that gets worn out the fastest? And a bit thinner on the top of the foot for breathability. And the rarest thing and one of the best? They are crew socks but made for people who actually have calf muscles, so they don't squeeze and pinch the calves. They are more like a compression sock there, which is perfect for keeping your ankles and lower calves warm on cold and windy days. I have two other pair from two years ago, and even those haven't worn out yet, I just wanted more. So two years, once a week wear, so roughly 104 wears and still no sign of thinning, very durable. And since the prompt is here they look pretty too! Though honestly, they could be hideous, and I would still wear them because they are the best socks on the market. And yet, they are pretty. I have been a Smartwool socks user (mainly for hiking) for many years, but I have always bought size Small for my size 6 feet; they are very comfortable! The "light cushion" has a nice cushioned sole--super soft! It's thick, it's warm, but not sweaty, and it protects my feet from developing blisters during longer walks/hikes. I machine wash/dry my Smartwool socks, so they do shrink a bit. This time around, I decided to go up to a Medium -- hoping to have roomier ankle -- and, to my surprise, I realized I prefer the size Medium to Small.
