Of course, the ultra premium price for said unit is at the upper echelon of IPS laser hair removal devices. This model did not disappoint. The way I look at it is this. Anyway you calculate your costs, whether it be multiple visits to the electrologist or the monetary investment in this device, you will be far ahead of the curve investing in this product. My wife used the IPL laser first. Let's be cognizant of that fact that this is a multiple session device. This means you have to service the same area many times before you see visible results. This is the nature of removing hair from different parts of your body. Even though you can physically remove hairs with tweezers, that would defeat the whole purpose of the objectives at hand. My wife started first in the bikini area using short and slow motions making sure the ice cooling was focused on the concentrated areas. The process was relatively painless. Remember to prepare the area first by shaving the hairs. You don't need to have a clean area, but just a prepped section will suffice. Just keep in mind, for effective removal, multiple passes on a weekly basis are necessary. Week 4 is where you would see the best results. She continued with the sessions in month two. Thereafter, sessions were spread apart for biweekly maintenance. I used this device for underarms. The process is the same. I shave the underarms and cleaned the area. I slowly did several passes with follow up passes two weeks later. After six weeks, I noticed very little hair left. I am impressed with this unit, its quality, design and performance. I have light skin and dark hair, and I've tried this once in a few areas, and overall have found it easy to use. One main thing I'd recommend is closing your eyes when pulling the trigger. I figured there would not be a need to do that since the device won't work if not making solid contact with skin, but the first time I pulled the trigger I really dazzled my eyes. A lot of light escaped around the device even though it was making good contact with skin. After that I closed my eyes every time I pulled the trigger. I could hear the device flash, and I could see the blast of light through my eyelids, so for me it was easy to tell that it was working with my eyes shut. I noticed that this device does not need nearly as good of contact with skin in order to trigger and flash vs. another brand I've tried. That is good in that it's easier to use, but also bad because 1) you can get more stray light flashing out at your eyes, and 2) you get less light focused on your skin, so you can lose effectiveness. So I have mixed feelings about that. There's no setting for different intensities, which seems odd to me. Maybe that's what the different modes are for, i.e., cooling, speed, and precision? I didn't notice any difference in intensity among the modes though. For me, I noticed no pain at all, not even any discomfort, on feet and legs. I've had in-office laser treatments at a two different dermatologists offices, and that was very uncomfortable, even painful. For me, this device is nothing like that at all. If this device ends up being effective, I will happily trade the discomfort for the hair removal not being permanent/as long lasting as doctors visits. The different attachments have smaller windows, which help get into small spots and focus the light, though I had no problems using the larger body treatment attachment even on smaller areas. The instructions say not to use on ears, nose, or breasts, so be aware of that if that's your intended purpose. Overall the device seems sturdy and durable, and a decent value vs other similar devices. We tried a different brand awhile back but it didn't seem to work, this one however has really surprised us! It is much stronger than the other one, you actually need to wear glasses to protect your eyes, and you only use it once a week. We have noticed a major difference after using it for a bit though, my wife hates having to shave all the time but now the treated areas are growing less or no hair at all! This laser hair remover is easy to use. You don't need to use any creams with it; in fact, the instructions indicate that you should use on clean skin with no creams or lotions. It's effective in removing hair permanently, but it's a process that takes several treatments to fully remove the hair. First, you must shave the area to be treated, as stubble or hairs can cause pain during the treatments. The ice cooling feature is really nice and cools down the skin before treatment to result in a painless at-home treatment. Included is a skin tone chart, so you can determine if this device is suitable and will work with your skin tone. Really fair skin and really dark skin tones are contraindicated for use with this product. You do need to wear protective glasses when using this tool, and I was disappointed that a pair of glasses was not included in the box. I ordered a pair to protect my eyes. After treating my legs for four weeks at one treatment per week, there's a noticeable difference in the hair growth in the treated areas. This device has not caused any redness or irritation.
