Great gear !!!!!!!
I initially bought a Snugpak Softie Elite 3. Looking at it and without field testing it only a month later I thought I would go for gold and bought this Snugpak Softie Elite 5 Sleeping Bag. A man can never have too much field equipment, but then try telling that to my wife. I like the Snugpak range of gear and these sleeping bags are a very nice piece of kit but at the end of the day they are only as good as they are functional and so until I can get out and field test these bags they remain an unknown quantity. What I can say is that they are true military sleeping bags and are made to a high standard. As I like to move around a little during the night I particularly like the expandable panel. I’m not sure if this applies to all Snugpak sleeping bags but both of mine came with a scratty sub-standard little 3cm zip puller on the main zip, the like of which you might expect to find on a lightweight jacket. Not what you want to be struggling to find when you are trying to get in or out of your bag in the middle of the night. I removed these on both my Snugpak Softie Elite bags and replaced them with a decent length of paracord to match the colour of the bag. Come on Snugpak, you can do better than this. While my order proved to be exactly what I wanted it would be of great assistance if the advertising material clearly stated whether these products are a left handed or right handed zip since Snugpak produce both. The Snugpak Softie Elite 3 is ideal size for my UK Berghaus military pack, while the Softie Elite 5 is quite a bit heavier and more bulky. Each are not as heavy or bulky as the civilian bag I have been using. I won’t bore everyone by comparing the specifications. I intend to test both in the best and worst of conditions. Made in Cambodia. Thank you OutdoorEquipped and Amazon. Read more
