This is a great solar light. I actually haven't used camping yet, but we use it out by the pool.I normally clip it to the umbrella and it gives off plenty of light. I beleave it would work great for camping, just clip it to your tent or outside. Just leave it in the sub during the day and plenty of light at night. It has serveral brightness levels and color temps. It also has a red light built-in to use as a marker light or emergency. I give it an A+. Recommended Read more

This Compact Solar Rechargeable Camping Lantern hits a sweet spot giving it the versatility to serve well as your lantern while car camping, but at as little as 9 ounces might also serve on the occasional backpacking trip. Packed in its 5.75" X 5.25" X 1.25" box, it takes up a small fraction of the space a standard free-standing camp lantern takes up when packed or stored at home. Boxed with it's charge cord, carabiner and booklet it weighs 11 ounces. The lantern offers three shades of white light, a red light and flashing red light. One of the white light modes is almost a buttery yellow, which I like outdoors as if may attract fewer kamikaze June bugs and moths. There are five light levels you can scroll through from 10-2,000 lumens. The brightest is blinding up close, but may come in handy should you wish to light up the whole campground (30' radius). Battery life is estimated to be 60 hours on it's low setting, and 6 hours on it's brightest. If you you stick to mid-settings, (8-17 hours battery life), you might squeeze in 2-3 days of use before requiring a recharge. The included booklet makes a clear note that the 2-Watt solar panel is a supplemental charging option, charging time will of course depend on the amount of sunlight, but do not count on it as your sole charging option. An adjustable angle fold out stand built into the back of the lantern allows for table-top use, a carabiner is included should you wish to hang it. Those are nice options, but as our family loves board games at the table outside, we prefer a light tall enough to shine down on the table, we'll look for a creative solution for this light. We'll be traveling to France in the late spring for 4-weeks of camping. We'll have a car to carry our camp gear. This little lantern will be coming along as it will be light and compact enough to fit in the luggage, but long-lasting, bright and versatile when camping. Read more
