Assembled and installed, these lights stand about 17” above the ground with the glass light bulb enclosure itself measuring about 5” in diameter and about 5.75” high. In placing these lights into our hard, dry ground, I have found it easier to not use the plastic spikes that are intended to be used at the base of the poles but rather to drive a metal nail / spike from the hardware store into the ground and to simply pace these lights over them. As you can see from the Amazon pictures, the light’s bulbs are a clearly visible component – and they are very bright when illuminated. These lights are not suited to places where a subtle lighting effect is desired, but when the occasion calls for a bold, bright statement, these lights will work well. We chose to use these lights to highlight a property fence line rather than use them as path lights for that reason. When the solar AA batteries need to be changed (as they eventually will), the process will be intuitive and easy. These lights are a well-designed and well-constructed quality product –just be sure they will suit your purposes when placed and will have adequate sun exposure for charging the batteries. Have had a couple sets of these. They are better than the hardware store plastic ones, these are metal and the pattern they show on the walkway are unique and attractive. All worked, no defects. Would buy again. Read more
Back when these lights first arrived, I was initially a bit disappointed by their seemingly "old fashioned" (by the standards of LED-illuminated lights) design. They have a single downward-facing LED on the underside of the top lid shining into a conical mirror on the bottom. However, these have become one of my favorite sets of solar yard lights. Let's start with their daytime appearance: they look REALLY nice in daylight. That's NOT something I can say about most of the solar lights I've gotten over the past few months. Just as importantly, they look really good in the dark, too. Although (as mentioned) they're illuminated by a single downward-facing LED aimed into a conical mirror, that LED is a LOT brighter than even *transformer-powered* LED lights of similar conical-mirror design used to be (I know, because I bought a LOT of them ~15 years ago). As you can see from the photos, my fears that they might be dim were completely premature and unfounded. They brightly illuminate the area around them without glare, and look as attractive in the dark as they do in broad daylight. Their quality is extremely high as well... metal and glass, with minimal plastic. The included 1200mAH AA cell has proven to be completely adequate for keeping them illuminated all night, and the solar cell is effective enough to fully recharge them even when they only get a few hours of direct sunlight per day. I originally planned to swap out their 1200mAH AA cells for 2600mAH NiMH AA cells (something I've done to approximately half the solar yard lights I've purchased), but it just hasn't been necessary with these lights. I suppose it might make a difference during the winter if we had a few rainy/overcast days in a row, but so far, I just haven't felt any great need to do it. Nevertheless, their use of standard AA-size cells is awesome, because NiMH and NiCd batteries only have a lifespan of around 1-2 years if you're draining and recharging them daily. With a little luck, I'll still be using these lights a decade from now. I REALLY like them. Read more

NOt exactly what I was looking for but very nice set of lights. Well made and has real glass in it. Seem well built. I put them along the sidewalk coming up to the house, But in hindsight sight I will be moving them to the back around my patio because I thing the light pattern it puts out will look better back there. Overall: nice solid set of solar lights. I was looking more for something that would clearly light the sidewalk and don’t feel these fit what I was looking for to do that. On the other hand, I love the light pattern they put out and they will look great around my patio and fire pit areas and I am buying another set to do that. Giving them a 4 star thu=mbs up. I got these free as part of the Vine program, but I only participate to try things that I actually need and will use. I try to give a fair and honest opinion and the rating you see is based solely on how my actual needs were met. Read more

I was really impressed with these solar lights. The build quality is very high, and they're nice and heavy, not plastic and lightweight. They charged up within hours and stay on for quite some time, well into the night. Build quality: Nice and heavy, very solid construction Brightness: Quite bright, and a nice warm light, too Functionality: Simply turn on, stick in the ground and you're good to go. Ease of installation: Again, just stick the posts in the ground and you're done. Look: A nice clean modern look, not like a coach light, more smooth lines. Read more

When we ordered these we had not expected what we received. We had expected them to be smaller and mostly plastic. But they are metal and glass and are a very nice size. These things are going to last!! The arrived very well packed and come with 4 light assemblies that have a stake for pressing into the ground. (The only plastic pieces) and there is a tube that elevates the light. This tube has the lights standing about 2 feet off of the ground. But, if you want them to sit lower you can cut off the excess and just insert the light into the new lower location. They charge in the direct sun but not so well in an indirect sun location. The lights come on at dusk and stay on for hours. In our case that was about 6pm. When we went to bed at 11pm they were still bright. At 2am they were still lit but starting to dim. Not really sure exactly when they went out. But, suffice it to say, they last for many hours. We are very happy withh them and for the quality, they are priced very reasonably. Read more
