I tried several other, less expensive brands. They either smelled bad, or had to be removed from their eye pillow for heating, or couldn't be washed (or any combination of these). I don't wear eye masks. It feels like I'm intentionally putting myself at a disadvantage should I need to react to something quickly in the middle of the night. This does not have ties or a loop that goes around the back of my head...it will just slip off if I get startled and want to look around me. I'm sure some people would hate this, because to keep it on you can't roll to your side or change positions....but this isn't a black out mask, that's not what it's for. This is great for relaxing, it helps you to "de-stress". Take a moment to lie down and put the mask on. Usually I'm tired, but not relaxed in any way, often there is a headache lurking, and then just generally feeling ill at ease because, really, why am I lying down instead of working on something? But immediately there is a cooling sensation against the backs of your eyes, with a pleasant weight to it that actually feels good. The scent of lavender is very light, not irritating or overwhelming. Often I think I will just lie there for a moment and recharge (and sometimes I do). But it's great when it helps you relax to the point of falling asleep...I wake up a little more rested than normally because it is so calming. I know this is a ridiculously long review for a simple eye mask, but I am enjoying it a lot and think most any one else would too. Read more
