This is a basic player with the Sony name and quality. Good picture, simple but functional remote, easy to operate. This was a replacement for my DVP-S330, which after a few years of loyal service finally gave out. Unit feels solid and well-made. It is not a progressive-scan unit, does not support WMA or JPEG, but does support DVD-R and DVD-RW, which were my main care-abouts. If you have a progressive-scan-capable TV, you probably aren't looking for an $89 DVD player anyway. It has a very slim design if space is a concern. As far as single-disc players go, you are certainly paying something for the Sony name, since you can get a JVC or Panasonic unit with more features for the same price. If you are partial to Sony and don't need WMA or JPEG support, go with this one. Read more

Got this today and was wrapped in bubble wrap for good protection in the too big Amazon box. Player looks terrible with rust on the bottom, scuffed up top and something on the top that I don't know how to describe. But, hooked it up and plugged it in. It worked. Plays CD's and DVD's ok. Even the remote worked. Not in good condition at all as far as the exterior, but it works. Today I decided to send this back because the description did not match with the product I received. This thing was dented on top and there was some kind of corrosion on the top along with rust around two of the feet on the bottom. Read more

Just about every thing I have is a Sony. The reason I got this dvd is because I needed a player that can play my movie backups, DVD-R-RW+R+RW. My older sony dvd about 5 years old, plays dvd-r's, but every now and then it freezes, so this new player plays the dvd-r's perfectly, with no problem. the only thing i dont like is it has no optical output. I will hook it up coaxle to see what that is like. Also the Price was nice. And I Just like Sony for just about everything.. Read more

Just what I wanted a dvd palyer with no frills. It came with no wires or remote, but I had the necessities and it plays well, reverses and fast forwards with ease. Thrilled with it! Read more
