Let's See! The price sure can't be beat. The Sony name brand is top notch. The device looks good, worked right out of the box, small footprint, stylish looking DVD player... What more can you ask for? You just hook up in seconds, plug in and pop in a DVD, seems to have a great picture and a lot of that is determined by your TV... This Sony is a good deal especially at this price. Clear display, nice solid remote control, smooth DVD door. I highly recommended it. If you are looking to pay DVD's on the TV this Sony is all you need. Don't spend a penny more than you have to... Plays CD's too but haven't tried that yet... I am sure it will work just fine. Sony's not what it used to be quality wise. Granted, it was $60 but I expected it to last longer than 5 months. With a 1 year parts and 90 day labor warranty the repair is going to cost almost as much as a new one. The last Sony DVD player I bought is still going strong after 8 years. Caveat Emptor. Read more

This product is damaged. It was poorly packed and the face was broken off when I received it. Also, title says black. Its not, its grey and all scratched up! On top of all of that there is no remote and/or cords. Thank you seller, you suck. Read more

Operation of the Sony DVPNSS550/B single disc DVD player has been straight forward. Picture quality is very good, and the desired basic features have functioned without problems. In other words, in the 2 1/2 months since we have owned this player, quality and reliability have been high. Price too was very reasonable. That means durability is the last quality to consider, which is why I have given the player a 4 rather than a 5. There is no reason a machine like this should not be problem free for years. But we won't know that for years. Read more

I purchased this DVD player because it was one of the few that had no review stars below 4. Everyone had only good things to say about it. I only purchase items that many Amazon prior customers purchased and gave good to excellent reviews. Using this as a guide I have never purchased a product that wasn't as good as the reviews. I've had this DVD player about 2 months now with no problems. It was easy to install, the picture and sound quality are excellent. I like the tiny size of the unit because it takes up very little room. I think that Sony has made a very good DVD player and it's worth considering. Read more

The player simply stopped working after 6 months occasional use--it lost all power and could not be started. Read more

The picture is superb, the operation is simple. The machine takes up little vertical space and the buttons along the top for Power, Open/Close, Play and Stop are extremely convenient. The player looks great and the Amazon price was only $69.00. On top of all this, it's a name brand, famous for its reliability. What's not to love? Read more
