Do Not Buy From this Company! If you read the company's policies by clicking on its name. Though its a Sony Product, look for where Amazon identifies the actual seller "electronics 101 deals." I made the mistake of purchasing a "refurbished Sony DVP-SR510H" in August. I bought refurbished because the DVD player was to be used for a singular purpose-to play the DVDs made from a professional videographer's extensive video of my Mother's 90th Birthday "bash" of over 100 friends and relatives from all over the country. Before we received the DVDs I tried it on a new DVD collection of the 10th season of the TV show "Supernatural". I had to stop the player after the first 10 mins. because I was afraid I was damaging the disc. The player would cause the video to freeze, stutter, and seem to disconnect from the TV, showing a "snowy" screen, then the video would come back on for a few seconds. I removed the disc to check it for damage but couldn't see any. Suffice it to say, the same thing occurred when we received Mom's highly anticipated birthday video. Fortunately, I was able to "save the day" by running the DVDs through my laptop's DVD drive (which I also used to test my "Supernatural" collection with perfect results) So, its not a CD/DVD quality problem. Granted, I bought a "refurbished" player to save money, but for the player not to function at all wasn't expected. I didn't use the player until more than 30 days from when I bought in August. That's why ANYONE THINKING OF BUYING FROM THIS SELLER must click on it and get to its "Policies" tab. First, if the player is defective, you have 7 days to return it. Otherwise it has the typical 30-day return/refund period. Of course I was out of luck because I didn't even use the player until 30 days had passed. And let's assume you can somehow meet their return/refund policy, be advised. Unlike Amazon, YOU pay all return shipping fees PLUS 15% RESTOCKING FEE. Some have obviously had good luck with this seller. And since its selling "name brand" items they may not have had to look at the seller's warranty, refund, etc. practices. Hopefully they'll never have to. But if you're buying refurbished, stay away from this seller. I essentially bought an approximately 40$ brick and a "refurbished" brick at that. Read more
This Sony DVD player is obviously a great price. It is very compact which I love. I like that it doesn't take up much room and is so lightweight. After a couple months it has seemed to have a slight problem. I'm not 100% sure it is the fault of the player, but it doesn't seem to happen any other time. When watching a DVD we will occasionally lose our viewing and sound for a few seconds. It is still playing though because when it comes back on it is a little ahead. So we have to go back "rewinding" ita bit so we don't miss anything. For us personally it hasn't been a huge thing and was worth the hassle for the low price. However, if you want something you can totally rely on to work just as desired you may want to spend a little more on a better quality DVD player or at least keep your box in case you need to return it. Nice, small unit. Works as well as expected with a great quality upscaled DVD image. Full HD 1080p with an older TV that can be finicky when connecting. As compared to our newish HD cable box which has trouble syncing with TV and only connects at 480p, it shows how much better the Sony DVD box is at HD sync. Read more
It does the job, but occasionally gets stuck. It will often not turn on when I press the on button and it also doesn't always respond to other manual commands. Read more
This DVD player worked perfectly! I bought it to project my AtmostFearfx Ghostly Apparations DVD in my garage window. I didn't want anything too expensive because my garage gets VERY hot with the hot Southern California weather and I wasn't sure if it would get ruined if I ran it each night all month long. This DVD player held up great! The picture was very clear even when projected at a large size in my window. Great product for a great price! Read more
This DVD player ran good for a few weeks, but then began faltering. The video output would cut out before it would finish initializing and start the dvd playback. I could live with that, and did for a while. Now the video output drops in mid-playback, forcing me to stop the dvd, cycle power, and play to resume. That I can’t live with - it’s going in the trash! great basic dvd player with good picture- bought for bedroom when entertaining 'dates'. I used to spend as lot on DVD players only to have them die due to my guest(s) getting the DVDs all covered in lube. This DVD Player has just as good a picture as the pricey ones and now not worried if only lasts a year due to 'guests' mistreatment. Read more
