Bought these to use while sleeping. Noisy spouse; noisy street; cats yelling for breakfast. I had been using my Bose over ear, QuietComfort IIs, but the over ear style means that I have to sleep on my back, and I am a side sleeper part of the time. I chose these because they were the only ear buds that seemed to sit completely in the ear, allowing me to sleep on my side with a pillow. Battery life – for the most part, it’s okay. But if I sleep in late on a weekend, it’s definitely not lasting 10 hours. I don't know if this is because I don't pair them with anything so maybe they're constantly searching for a bluetooth connection. If so, that's not an actual dig on the ear buds because I am not using them the way they are designed to be used. And when the battery gets low, the headphones wake you up by announcing “battery low.” Looking over the manual, there’s no way to turn this notification off or lower the volume. I solve the problem by waiting until I’m woken up by noise to put these in, and since then, I haven’t had a problem. I would say a good 6-8 hours easily. Noise cancellation – Noise cancellation is good. It’s not as good as the over ear Bose, but I think that’s in part due to the physical noise block provided by the fact that the Bose over ear things cover your ear. I have no way to actually judge this, but my sense is that the actual noise cancellation (minus the noise cancellation provided by the physical design) is about the same. I reach this conclusion because if I cover my ears with a pillow, its seems about the same as the Bose. During the setup process, the headphones app that you download to your phone has a feature where they analyze how well the ear buds fit your ear in terms of providing noise cancellation. If the buds are too big or too small, there are alternatives provided. Touch features – There is a touch feature where you can tap on a flat part of ear buds to do certain actions. It comes set so that if you touch the right ear one, it starts to play whatever your audio is. I usually sleep with my mobile off, but one night when I kept it on to use the alarm, when I rolled over, part of my ear must have touched the touch pad and started my podcase. Woke me up and scared the bejessus out of me. Usually not a problem because as I said I sleep with my phone off. When I need to turn it on, I now turn off Bluetooth (which as I said above may be part of my battery life problem). I also discovered that you can set what action you want the touch pads to take when you touch them. On the headphones app, you select “system” on the menu across the top and then scroll down to “change the touch sensor function.” I’ve now set both ears to simply swap the noise cancellation from “ambient sound” – you can hear stuff around you, presumable for talking or exercising – to “noise cancelling.” So when I accidentally trigger the touch pad with my ear when I roll over, it simply toggles the noise cancellation feature. You soon learn that the higher sounding guitar strum means that you’ve activated “ambient sound,” and you touch the pad again and get back to the lower guitar strum that means “noise cancelling.” Luckily, this guitar strum thing is pretty quiet and much less alarming and wakey uppy than the low battery notification. I’ve also realized that if I rotate the flat touch pad in my ear so that it is approximately at 2 o’clock if you’re looking at my ear, then I’m much less likely to trigger the pad with my ear as I shift around. After getting through the learning curve, I’ve come to quite appreciate these ear buds as a sleep aid. I can’t tell you anything about the sound quality or anything else, but for sleeping in a noisy environment, I highly recommend them. Read more

These fit and stay in my ear even while running up stairs.. the initial connectivity is better than people make it seem- you just have to download an app at first. The sound quality and volume is on or above par, the noise canceling works how you’d imagine ear buds to work- at 90-95% capacity, the headphones are obviously better for noise cancellation. They are small light and comfortable to a point where either you forget you’re wearing them or you forget you’ve taken em off 5 minutes ago. I refuse to test durability lol I’d like to try the best bose earbuds soon but it’s not likely since I’m overly pleased with my sonys. I’ve only had AirPods before or the wired ones and these are an upgrade for those who want work earbuds for all above reasons. To add to that, I must mention battery life is good for full days work and they charge in case very quick if you need them all day, which I don’t but because how much I like them they get used for 9 hours minimum, and lastly the tap feature helps with answering and hanging up on calls on the fly or switching songs etc. pause play. That’s the end of my opinion Read more

I'll start with why I returned these earbuds: I couldn't get them to fit in my ear, specifically the right side. I tried the different size tips that it comes with and no matter how I put them in, there was always outside noise sneaking in around the earbud. I blame that mostly on my own anatomy, but I think it does have something to do with how these earbud tips are a foam-like material similar to earplugs, rather then your usual rubber/plastic material. The earplug material on these Sonys makes me wonder if they'll eventually break down and become soft and require replacing every few months. The good: the sound quality on these earbuds is amazing. The highs are crisp and the bass is a rich and deep. All the EQ settings are adjustable in the app which I found easy to set up. No account required, just go through the usual tips and tours through the features which I found helpful. I didn't have any glitches or problems connecting with the app, which is a huge win over other earbud apps like Bose for example, whose app is almost useless for how often it can't connect to the earbuds. The only thing I didn't like about the app is how the shortcut controls aren't customizable. For example volume up is tapping the right earbud 4+ times and there's no way to change that to something simpler. As far as the charging case, it is small and sleek, and charged the earbuds very quickly. The noise canceling! It's an unreal experience when you put these little things in your ears, turn on active noise canceling, and just listen to the world melt away around you. You don't need the volume up too high because the ANC is that good. I tested these and two other earbuds on a vacation which included a flight to Las Vegas and the noise canceling made an enormous difference on the plane and to help mute the background noise within casinos and on the strip. These are a solid 9 out of 10. The only reason I didn't keep them is because (most likely due to the shape of my own ear and ear canal) I couldn't get the right side to fit snugly and effectively. They also made my ears kind of sore after keeping them in for more than 30 minutes. With some slight design improvements, and maybe using a better material instead of the squishy earplug foam, these would be a keeper for me. Read more

Comfortable and stay in fairly well. The sounds quality is really excellent, providing strong and distinct bass without sacrificing anything in the midrange. Great battery life. The noise canceling works really well, for me the wearer. As far as background noise suppression, what someone else hears of my surroundings during a call, I'm sure it's nowhere near what high-end systems designed for that provide, but it is there. My family and friends report a difference in that sense between these and my Apple Powerbeats Pro (which I lost for a while ergo bought these). My car is convertible so I've had plenty of opportunity to test that effect. Read more
