These Sony earbuds are the best I have tried out of the following brands / models that are all in the $250 - $300 range: - Samsung Buds 3 Pro - runner-up to Sony, but failed after a few months and would only allow multi-connections with other Samsung products. I struggled getting these to work on airplanes, even with my bluetooth adapter because these other connections are not Samsung, however, if you are using Samsung products these are great! Nowhere near the battery life of the Sonys, though, struggling to get 4 hrs with ANC on. - Technics AZ100 - tied for 2nd place with Samsung Buds3Pro - and are a worthy competitor to the Sony's with a couple exceptions - a) these struggle to hold a BT connection in busy places, such as airports or airport lounges, and, b) the noise cancelling does not work well on airplanes, rather, they actually magnify conversation sound from seats around you - very weird. Nonetheless, if you use noise cancelling earbuds for travel, these won't suffice for these two reasons. - Sennheiser Momentum 4 True Wireless - nice sound, but noise cancelling struggles outside, particularly in the wind. No wireless charging - just not worth the price tag - even with a steep discount. - Bose Quiet Comfort Ultra - great sound, but horrible app experience with an Android phone. Would lose connections with the app and often with the phone altogether, requiring you to remove the app, reinstall, redo your settings. This happened each of the 3 days I owned them, so they quickly went back. I don't have time for these, but I did get to fly with them, and the noise cancelling is the best - and the Sonys are equally as good. Now to the Sony WF-1000XM5s - These sound awesome, fit well, and have excellent noise cancelling. They also shine where each of the above struggled: easy to connect and manage multiple connections, really work well on airplanes, have great smart features that learn and react to different environments and help set the equalizer. These are well-worth the money, even at full price. I would much rather pay full price for a product that works well and does not frustrate me. Each of the above work well in certain conditions, but don't perform well in all categories like the Sonys, and, in my opinion, are not worth the price, even with a discount. The only negative I see is the ear tips - they are not as comfortable as some of the others, but this can be remedied by purchasing after-market tips. I see this as a minor inconvenience that I would likely change anyway with most earbuds. Read more

I liked these ear buds so much that I bought a second pair just in case I lose/break my first one. Noise canceling on these are superb and sound quality is on the same level. Foam ear tips are great for the duration of time it lasts but investing in some silicone ones afterwards is a must. Read more

Good sound, good app, ANC close to non-existant. It seals ear well, but ît is almost impossible to hear the difference when ANC is ON or OFF. Read more

I've owned a set of these previously. The 1st time, from a different seller. I was SOOO thrilled with my purchase! Everything worked perfectly, I loved the sound quality and the battery life was great even after me than a whole year of use! (Unfortunately, I lost the 1st pair.... I looked for weeks with no luck before finally I purchased this second set.) Honestly, I believe I received a refurbished product. The contact points don't match up properly with the case and it takes several tries at readjusting the way each ear buds is situated in the charge case to ensure it will recharge when you close the case. The app often shows incorrect charge % for the buds and the case... leading you to believe each are fully charged, only to find out that one or more of the pieces are actually at 0%, when you go to use them. I have had no success with the seller. I do have the insurance... but, I'm fairly certainin just going to get another refurbished set of I wish with them. All around... AVOID THIS MERCHANT! Read more

Transitioning from the WF-1000XM3 after 3 and a half years, the XM5 did not dissapoint. Spectacular noise canceling, very comfortable in the ears the fit perfectly. The sound quality is what I expecteed from Sony: clear voices, good bass, good treble. Connectivity is very easy, and the packaging is one step ahead with fully recycled materials. The new charging box is smaller, which is convenient as well. A good step up. Read more

SELLER DOES NOT ACCEPT RETURNS. Coming from Jabra Elite 75t, these were a disappointment primarily due to fit and usability. They do not seat in my ears nearly as well as the Jabras. The foam tips become uncomfortable over time and never create as good of a seal. The sound quality is alright, but the Jabras win. I decided to try these because I was concerned Jabra might stop supporting their earbud app and wanted to explore alternatives. Unfortunately, the app experience here is frustrating and unintuitive. Basic features—like figuring out how to reliably use Siri—were harder than they should be. I strongly prefer physical buttons for control, and the touch-based controls on these feel less reliable and more cumbersome in daily use. I intended to return these and go back to Jabra, but discovered too late that this third-party seller does not accept returns. If you’re considering these, be very careful purchasing from third-party sellers and check the return policy closely. Read more

Not for use at work. Sound quality is good, connectivity is good. But even using one earbud, ANC turned off. I was unable to hear conversations very well. Ended up having to take the bud(s) out for ANY type of conversation Read more
