I have had the opportunity to test these in a lot of rain walking around the city ("the wettest spring in Seattle in decades") and am generally pleased with their performance. They are truly waterproof and windproof and my socks stayed perfectly dry inside after an hour of walking around in heavy rain. I wear these boots with regular socks and my feet stay warm but not too hot. I usually wear a 7.5, and ordered both the 8 and 7.5 - the 7.5 fit but the 8 was too loose, so I would say they are true to size. They did feel rather snug at first, even on my narrow feet, but have loosened up to be comfortable with a few months of wear. I replaced the foam insoles with my usual brand of insole, but want to note that there is hardly any built-in arch support on these boots and I had to upgrade to the highest level of arch support insole my favorite brand makes. I have noticed that my big toes have worn a spot through the upper inside lining on each boot, and the outer edge of the sole on the heel has worn away a bit already, so I am worried about the overall longevity of these boots. Another word of caution - they do not have great traction on wet pavement and especially any metal covers. Still, these are the exact style I was looking for, and I give full marks for the waterproof and windproof quality of their materials. I would love it if in the future Sorel designed a combat boot like this specifically for city walking with better traction and arch support. Read more

Wore them nearly everyday from October to March for 3 years. The fabric did start to come up on the sides of the toes and the zipper on one had been having issues the past few months and finally gave out. Loved the weight and sound they made and am sad to see I can't find them anymore. Read more

I have probably 10 pairs of Sorel shoes. Some fit perfect & some are hit or miss with comfort. I'm a General Contractor & painter & own 2 businesses & I'm a single mom. I say that only to truly exaggerate just how much I'm on my feet. I've had 2 back surgeries, a double spinal fusion, and I honestly hate to walk bare footed from the pain. These boots are great!!! If you wear them as much I as I do, don't expect them to last forever. I change out my foots often so I have constant support. These are always a go to for all day support & comfort. I love this boot. I wear dresses and also like to hike while on vacations and this fits the bill for looking cute and being durable. I can't tell you enough how much I love these hiking boots. They stood up to the cobblestones in the city of Dublin and the mud and wet on the Cliffs of Moher. I've recently moved to Alaska and it's almost never dry here. I walk through mud, glacial run off, on rocks and wood. These babies keep my feet dry and my ankles from rolling. I bought a half size larger to accommodate for thick socks and feet swelling and really didn't need to. But, I still love these boots.
