I have a few self-powered PC speaker setups whose power supplies have failed. I tried this Soulbay supply because it states "Regulated" in its description. In the world of power supplies, Regulated is one of two main design patterns, the other being "Switched or Switching". Both accomplish the same thing, converting your wall socket alternating current into the kind of direct current juice your gadgets require. Regulated supplies are generally known for being electrically "quiet", meaning they don't induce any artificial noises, like whining, buzzing or clicking, into the circuit they power, while switching supplies are more prone to being "noisy". While this Soulbay supply is too noisy for powered speakers, it's probably fine for other gadgets that don't process audio signals.
