This is a well-made film which is definitely in the upper half of Marvel movies. It was also quite entertaining. But it is, at heart, a high-school movie: high-school boy gets outed and tries to evade the consequences. He botches this and faces various consequences. Teenage angst ensues. In this case, the consequences include pulling various villains and two other Spider-Men into our universe. In a sad commentary on the imagination of the filmmakers, all of these visitors are from the first two series of Spider-Man movies. And most of the villains died in those films, yet are alive here. Perhaps they are from universes where they didn't die but (since they recognize their respective Spider-Man) had a Spider-Man who looks, sounds, and acts exactly as the ones we saw kill them did. And I mean "Men". The Spider-Men are all grown up, and behave accordingly. Spider-Boy, in contrast is, with his friends, feeling much angst over which college he will get in to. If any, now that he has been outed as Peter Parker. Do what the filmmakers did not do, and imagine other villains and other Spider-Men (and/or Spider-Women, or Spider-Whatever-You-Want), hitherto unseen, appearing. Whether that would have been better is hard to say, as our knowledge of the earlier films is fully exploited to make this a memorable experience. The ladies do not appear. No reason is given. Death is clearly not an excuse since, as noted, most of the villains died on-screen in the earlier films. Dr Strange is also involved but, thankfully, is off stage through most of the film. The film ends with a threat that he will be back but, for all I know, this film preceded the Dr Strange Multiverse film so the threat can be ignored. Obviously, if you actually /enjoy/ watching Spider-Boy, you will enjoy this as well! Less obvious, however, is that even if you don't find Spider-Boy particularly interesting, you may still find this film enjoyable. Read more
A lot of people hated on this for being a fan-based movie, but that's what I loved about it. It gave us all our favorite characters and a new story with some serious scenes. Overall, it is lighthearted and fun to watch. Really cool to see most of the Sinister 6 in the same movie too. Read more
