I have been avoiding fluoride for years now. Fluoride's toxicity Is between lead and arsenic. Your dentist may tell you that in small amounts fluoride is okay, but what they do not know is that fluoride is not something your body can get rid of, therefore it accumulates overtime and you'll pay the price years later; thyroid diseases, immune system dysfunction, and so on. Xylitol is a great method to prevent AND fight cavities. It can heal cavities when they are still small and before they become visible. Xylitol is a good sugar substitute also and has zero calories since it does not bind. However, since it does not bind, some people's digestive system might be sensitive to it, so definitely keep it in moderation. Definitely do not give xylitol to dogs. Xylitol can also be used as an antibacterial for various purposes: strep throat, ear infection, nasal congestion. We live very holistically and do not use any medication at all for anything. When I had strep throat I treated myself without antibiotics. I have tried Tom's, Xyliwhite toothpastes, but Spry is by far the best. I love this toothpaste. It can be hard to find flouride free toothpaste in the middle of no where (which is where I live currently) but with amazon I can get this xlear toothpaste. Works great, taste great and leaves my mouth with the "clean" feeling. Which some other flouride free do not. I like this also cause it free of crappy aspartame free, xilitol for the win! Now xlitol is good for the teeth and better for you than aspartame but I wouldnt want to pretend that you could replace every sugar/aspartame with sugar alcohols (like xylitol) and all will be fine, you can still get issues. Even with that said, this is a much better product than regular ol crest or something like senodyne which just covers up what could be important warning signs. All in all I think this is a great replacement for your regular toothpaste and your mouth will still get the "clean/fresh" feeling that many flouride free pastes are missing. Read more

I’ve been using Spry toothpaste for at least 5-6 years now. So glad I can purchase on Amazon in bulk, as previously I had to go to a specialty natural foods store a couple towns over to get it. This paste has a bright pepperminty flavor and is not strong on baking soda taste. Foams up nicely even without using a ton. And best of all, no harsh chemical ingredients! Read more

I bought this product back in May 2011 as an alternative to the flouridated toothpaste and from my research, flourides harmful effects on the body over time. In addition to that I also bought a 5 stage Reverse Osmosis water filtration system (about $250 with 2-3 years worth of filters included). Would recommend that as well if you are flouride sensitive, let me know if you would like to know the product that I purchased in that regards. At any rate this review is about the Spry Spearmint Tooghpaste. Since I started using this toothpaste my teeth are much less sensitive to hot/colds and I haven't had a cavity yet. I use this toothpaste 2x a day with only a pea-size amount and it works great. I actually like the spearmint taste over the peppermint taste, but to each their own. Finally running low on this toothpaste and have to reorder (from the same supplier I might mention). If you are looking for a flouride free toothpaste alternative, I would highly recommend trying this product out and see if you like it. Note: when the labels on toothpaste with flouride in it explicity states not for children under 2 years old...I wonder why they have to write that but then dentist say small amounts are ok...hmmm...
