Quick-dry and high-stretch, but only one tennis pocket

I got this Spyder Skort for my daughter, who is 5 feet 5 inches with dimensions of 36-30-36. She says the medium is a comfortable fit with a little bit of extra room, which is what she wanted. I compared these to her other name-brand tennis skorts as a benchmark. The product detail page says the dimensions for the medium are a 29-inch waist with a 15-inch length. I measured the waist at 14.25 inches laid flat (28.5 inches total), using both a tape measure and a wooden folding ruler (measured twice, and had my spouse confirm my measurements). 29 inches would be the minimum body measurement for a Medium -- the extra 1/2 inch is the minimum necessary body dimension to provide enough tension for the garment to stay up. The comfortable max stretched length is 17 inches laid flat, or 34 inches total. On my daughter, these land just below the belly button, which is standard height for this type of skirt, and she thinks it's comfortable. The length measured exactly 15 inches. Overall, this is a match in style and length to her other name brand tennis skorts in style and length. The material however differs from her other skorts. It's thinner, more spandexy, and more like swimsuit material. The fabric is quick-dry that is very stretchy and a synthetic feel, and doesn't feel anything like cotton. I tested the quick-dry characteristics of the fabric -- after getting it wet, it dried completely in the sun in about 30 minutes. The skirt material is thicker than the interior shorts. The slits on the side are 2 inches long, making movement easier, which is particularly helpful for sports. One difference from her other name-brand skorts is that this model only has one pocket for tennis balls, whereas her others typically have two pockets. This is nuisance for anyone who plays tennis. There are no skirt pockets, only the one tennis pocket on the shorts themselves. Nonetheless, she likes them for tennis and pickleball, and also for any activity where quick-drying material is helpful (beach, amusement park, etc). These would also make a nice swim skirt. The feature she likes the most is that they are real shorts underneath, instead of briefs or bloomers. I think these are a good value for a sport skort. Read more

Ugly, but fine material and stitching

Material is thin and the stitching/design of the skirt makes it fall in a way that I find really unfortunate looking. It's almost like it's trying to be an a-line style skirt, but didn't succeed for some reason idk. It's weirdly shaped, not cute at all. Fit was fine, and the spider logo on the back is cute. Shorts sewn in were fine too. Does have pockets but not super deep or usable. Overall: no flaws, beyond the aesthetic issues I have. However well-made the skirt may be, it is definitely still ugly. Solid cut skort with thin material subject to wrinkling...

The Silver Cloud color of this Spyder skort is not silver or in any way cloud-like, so the name is a bit of a head scratcher, but the color of the one I received does match the image on the product page, which is what I was hoping for. I've tried other Spyder items in the past and found them to run a bit small, so I ordered one size up from my normal pants size with this skort, but it's quite stretchy, so if I were to order another color, I'd get my normal size. The cut of the skort is simple and attractive, and since I'm petite, the cut is more modest/work-appropriate than it might be on a taller person. I have a lot of skorts because I find them more flattering than shorts during the summer months and aside from the side slits and back seam, it's very similar to ones I own. I will say that I'd prefer not to have the back seam -- the skort already has side seams, after all, so it's unnecessary and doesn't add anything to the style -- but the cut is one that can usually blend into different situations depending on what you pair it with, so I like that. One issue, though, is that the material is a bit thinner than my other athletic skorts, so it doesn't maintain its shape quite, as well. The mix of materials doesn't provide as much structure, so the material is more prone to hugging any rolls, bumps, or imperfections. And the material is very prone to wrinkling: it arrived wrinkled and creased, and even after washing and drying according to instructions, it still doesn't look entirely smooth. It does wash well, so this seems to be an issue with the the thinness and mix of materials. It's one I don't have with most of my other skorts, so that'll limit my use of this skort to athletics and wearing it around the house only; whereas, I was hoping to use it in a wider variety of situations. That issue aside, though, the skort is quite comfortable and fits true-to-size, so it is good for wearing at home, jogging, or tennis. Read more

Very Cute and Flattering Skort — Just Size Down

This is a really cute athletic skort and the overall design is very flattering. The material feels high quality with a nice amount of stretch, which makes it comfortable for movement and outdoor activities. It has that sporty performance feel but still looks stylish enough to wear casually. The only issue for me was sizing. I ordered my usual size and it ended up being just a bit too big, so if you’re between sizes I would definitely recommend sizing down. Aside from that, the material and fit design are great, and it would be perfect for things like golf, tennis, walking, or just everyday summer wear. Pros: • Cute, flattering athletic style • Comfortable stretch material • Great for sports or casual outfits • Lightweight and breathable If you're between sizes, consider sizing down for a better fit.
