One of the Finest Knives Made

I've carried (and used) the Spyderco stainless folder knives for over 15 years, every day. Great knives! The body is all stainless steel, with their "VG-10" stainless blade (no plastic crap here! LOL). Although it's a bit of a heavy knife, it is very robust and durable overall. The blade lock is very positive and engages firmly and easily, yet is also easy to release, when you're ready. Also, the blade does not "lock" closed, but rather is held under a bit of spring-tension by the lock-open mechanism. Opening is a breeze, and can be done very swiftly, with one hand, with proper technique and a little practice. I've had/used all of the different blade styles over the years (all in the "Endura" stainless-steel line): flat, serrated, and combo. I personally think the combo blade is the best of both worlds. Smooth blade edge for fine cutting, serrated at the base for rougher cutting. Great for cutting line (i.e., rope). If your looking for a high quality, daily-carry knife, this is a good one. And yes: The one's sold here on Amazon are the genuine Spyderco knives. Read more

The proverbial “It’s a Spyderco.”

Great knife. Had one years and years ago that I got a killer deal on at a mom and pops feed and tack store. They were always nice people. Unfortunately, someone that I worked with took off with it one day. Finally found another. It’s sharp. Real sharp. This one I use going out not necessarily for edc. For protection. If you wanted to use it for box cutting it will do it but I’d recommend the plain edge if you’re going to use it use it. Knife has some weight to it and is a little large. People will notice it especially if the sun is reflecting off of it. The deployment “Spydey”hole is sharp. Doesn’t bother me but you may feel like it will cut. Four position pocket clip is strong and holds tight. I just had to have another after missing my first one for so long. Read more

Quality Knife

Spyderco is a great brand! I already own a few of them! I got the stainless steel handle model as a gift! The great thing about this model is I was able to have the stainless steel handle engraved to add a personal touch to the gift! Read more

Awesome knife!!

I discovered Spyderco about 15 years ago when I got a Harpy as a present. Unfortunately I lost that knife a couple of years later, but have no doubt that if I still had it today, it would be just as solid and perform as well as new. This knife is a similar construction with the Stainless Steel body and lock back design and it performs flawlessly. I can really appreciate the options to carry tip up/down on the left and right hand side as well as the overall fit and finish of this knife as well as the Spydercos that I've seen and collected in the years past. This knife is no exception, with a great solid lock up, razor sharp edge and the proven Spyderedge serrations. I'm sure this knife will last a lifetime and is an exceptional value at this price ~$70! Perfect for what I wanted and needed

Let me start by saying that I am what a lot of people call a knife snob. I only carry what screams quality when I hold it. I've owned knives anywhere from Frost cutlery lock backs, to custom folders. I have more knives than I can count and I haven't carried anything under the $40 price point for the last 4 years. For most guys and gals, a knife is a box cutter, pry bar, and a weapon. For all of us knife lovers, it's an heirloom, it's our most reliable partner in crime, it's what we depend on to get us out of sticky situations. This knife has blown me away. I have six Spyderco's now and I love every single one. Never has a Spydie let me down. This knife though, has hogged my pocket for the last six months. The $80 price tag is almost as heavy as this all steel knife, but for what this knife has done for me and the abuse it has taken, I'd buy it again and again. It's slim, it is heavy but not over the top (enough to feel strong and durable), the steel holds an edge for a perfectly adequate amount of time, and it's comfy as could be in the hand. This knife has lived in my hand doing horse ranch work, it has been dropped on concrete, it has cut more rope and twine than you could imagine, it has done wood working, as well as basic edc. and it still locks as the first day I had it. No play, no wiggle. PROS: Comfortable Slim Sharp (and easy to get there) Multi-purpose Great looks CONS: Heavy Can intimidate people if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time CONCLUSION: I will recommend this knife all day, and I have gotten tons of compliments. However, if you don't have a ton of work or respect to show this knife, buy a smaller knife. I bought this big and heavy of a knife for a reason, and it has performed excellently. But if you're strictly looking for something to cut lose strings on a shirt in the office, don't get this. I would recommend the Delica by Spyderco for basic edc chores like that, or a classic Case knife. Nothing bigger than the Manix 2. Good luck, Stay sharp Read more

Skeptic turned fan

To be clear: 1.) I bought this knife after hours of research, looking for the best all-round pocket knife for my needs. 2.) I think it's ugly as sin. 3.) Before receiving the knife, I was still unsure whether I made a good choice. I had not bought into the rampant fanaticism that surrounds many spyderco products. After receiving the knife however, I was instantly struck by the well above average build quality, the razor-sharp edge, and the smoothness of operation. Every day since, I fall a little bit more in love with it. It's easily the best knife of it's kind I've ever owned. It sharpens well, keeps an edge well, the locking mechanism, while antiquated, operates well, and the shape fits my hand better during any given task than any knife I've owned prior. I still think it is ugly, almost obscenely so, but the shape is completely utilitarian, and I wouldn't give this knife up for anything. Bottom Line: If you need a pocket knife and nothing more, look no further. Read more
