Great Value And A Lightweight Spyderco Legend

T. PriceNovember 5, 2025

I like this lightweight Manix 2 knife much more than I expected. The locking mechanism is fun to fiddle with and is extremely strong; and the large leaf blade is pretty much the exact same length as the PM2 - and it seems very close to the same thickness too. Out of the box, this knife was wicked sharp and perfectly centered, and the action opens easily and drop-closes exactly like a well-adjusted knife should. I assume it has dual washers. The handle has a nice surface texture and a great wire clip, but it is not particularly comfortable to hold and use for lengthy sessions. Unfortunately the edges are squared off like on a G2 PM2 with no added contours or more radius-ed edges like on the PM3 lightweight. Much of the genius of the Manix is in the handle profile and the integrated choils that extend onto the blade for multiple grip positions. I understand now why for many Spyder people, this is their favorite knife. The only things that keep it from being a perfect EDC is the small-radiused handle and the fact that the locking action requires a spring loaded button that can clog with dirt and potentially jam or break. For the money, this lightweight knife, especially in SPY27 or even the slightly more expensive MagnaCut, is a great value and an extremely well-designed and useful folding knife. A Spyderco legend! Awfully dainty

Stacy NewmanNovember 1, 2025

Only had it 24 hours but I think I like it. Honestly, I'm a CS guy and my first impression of this knife was 'I'll break it for sure'. It is lightweight as the name suggests. It weighed in at 82-83g's, pretty light. It is 3.5mm thick and the blade is just over 3 inches. The blades width is 1.25 inches at the thickest part. I like to fidget so this lock is great for me. The blade locks up nice and folds down smoothly. Not so sure about the value for money. Quality feel to this knife, no wiggle. The belt clip is great, I love the wire clip. I even like the translucent blue. Read more

Get one!

James R.October 26, 2025

Owning several Spydercos now, not sure why it took me so long to get a Manix 2, this is an excellent EDC folder. It's a little larger than my usual carry, but it feels so good in my hands and in the pocket, it's a non-issue for me. Spyderco's ergonomics, blade steels and the heat treatments on them, give them an edge over the competition IMHO. The lock on this is very solid and strong and it came shaving sharp out of the box. The G-10 handle scales have a really good grip to them without feeling too "overtextured" (if that's a word) and the S30V blade is a winner. Get one! Read more

Nothing but the best

Lance SimonOctober 4, 2025

Obviously spyderco makes some of the best knives and the Manix 2 is probably one of the best knives in the world if not the best the knife came perfect and I like it but I previously bought the spy27 g-10 version and it has a satin blade and came unbelievably sharp I’ve been collecting knives over 20 years and that spyderco 27 was by far the sharpest thing I’ve ever bought this s30 version doesn’t seem very sharp and it has a funny stone wash finish I was expecting a beautiful shiny steel razor sharp blade and it just isn’t the same I’d go for the spy27 if it’s your first Manix these knives are built beyond hard use and I buy more spyderco than anything but might send this back for the all black version or another spy27 version definitely worth the money and the best you can get Read more

Amazingly sharp, well built beauty.

W. McDanielNovember 26, 2025

Adding this... I did notice the bottom two screws closest to the lock were only screwed in a couple of threads and had no blue locktite. I removed them and tightened with locktite, but probably voided the warranty by doing so. I was using a benchmade auto adamas as an EDC. But its a chunker. This knife is almost the same size but much more carry friendly. Pics for comparison. It is by far the sharpest knife out of the box I have ever bought. I've never owned a spyderco knife before, but was always curious. Trying to save some money and bought the Kershaw Iridium from the popular mechanics review. Long story short it was well built but too small and slippery for my hands. This knife is perfect. And if it's too big you could always go to the manix regular and save some space. I can't tell you how quality is but if you hold one you can feel it. This is my new EDC. Adamas going in the safe for now. Very pleased with this knife. Read more
