Bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. He's obsessed with it. Keeps saying how nice it is, how balanced it feels in hand, how sharp it is, and how it's the nicest knife he's ever owned. It's a good size that he can carry in his pocket, and opens easily; even I can open and close it. 😂 expensive, but worth the cost! Read more

This is my first Spyderco knife. I mostly own Benchmades and Case. Most of Spyderco designs visually are "delicate" to my eye. Yet, when I saw this knife it spoke to me of heft and fantastic build and design. It is a great pocket carry. It is meaty but within EDC bounds. It is solid and feels well balanced in the hand. I love the blade design, and it is exceedingly sharp - as should be expected. I carry an auto Benchmade with a dagger blade in my bag, so if I need to pierce something I turn to that, but otherwise this blade deals with all situations well. A great, unique pocket knife that is high in quality. I definitely recommend it if you want something beyond plain Jane. Read more

I bought this as a cheese and meat knife. I have been looking forever for the best cheese knife and I’ve found it. When you cut hard cheese, the knife has a lot of pressure on the blade. A kitchen knife is too long and thin. With this knife, the angle of this blade to the handle means you can cut down to the board. The handle is such that it doesn’t roll in your hand. The cleaver shape of the blade allows you to put tremendous pressure on what you cut. Lastly, the blade folds shut so when you are carrying a cutting board of food or after a bottle of wine, the knife doesn’t slide and cut you. FANTASTIC! Read more

I bought this for my son and he couldn't be more happy. The quality is consistent with other Spyderco knives (this is a really good thing). The blade's cleaver design is unique and it gives the knife a high "wow" factor. That said, the blade design is really specialized so I wouldn't suggest the "Roc" as a good general purpose knife. Spyderco makes a lot of really great all purpose knives. Any of them would be great choices. If you are looking something that's different and interesting or for a great field cleaver the Roc is an awesome knife. Read more

Pros: Solid knife all around Sharp - shaved hair out of the box Handles incredibly well So fun to use. Less dangerous if you have kids running around Cons: Sightly difficult to close with one hand Handel gets dirty easily due to texture I’ve used this for a million tasks, from carving, chopping, slicing, etc. It’s a crown pleaser too - a folding cleaver is quite the knife. Great job Spyderco! Read more

Sending it back. Not sure if I'll order another. For one, it's kinda small, but not too small. I do like it. I love cleaver style blades. Weight wise, its definitely on the lighter side of my knife collection. Workmanship on blade and handle is great. I have in the lower teens of Spyderco knives. All folders. I'm used to their top notch quality and I know what to expect. The pivot on this knife is sucks. The action is terrible. Feels like it is metal on metal. I don't know what the issue is but it opens like crap. And closes like crap. The exact opposite of a buttery smooth opening. There has to be an issue with this individual knife. Spydercos quality is better than this. After all I'm going through the pain in the ass of sending it back. Haha. Read more

Only used it so far to open a package so the edge got a chip in it from cutting tape.... Came shaving sharp and has a great feel to it. Not to heavy for everyday carry. I would buy this knife again but I'm disappointed that there is a chip on the edge without even using it. Edit: I figured out what the chip is from. Its actually from one of the screws that holds it together. When closed the blade rests on a shaft of the screw if pressed on. So yea when in your pocket its going to happen no matter what and the chip (actually a dent) is going to occur no matter what. Bad design in my opinion. Still a decent knife. Read more
